So pretty. Want. To. Swim.
I found a pretty waterfall/lagoon area on the road to Hana. I need to find some pictures. there were tons of little tadpoles and a lot of mongooses (mongeese?) and stray cats.

I do a hike most every Saturday. This is about 4 miles in on one of them, but I forget which one! Sorry.
Edit: Found it! Santa Paula Canyon, from the trailhead on Highway 33 a few miles northwest of Santa Paula.

Just throw a mermaid anywhere in Hawaii. Black sands beach or Red Sands beach (can't remember the actual names) in Maui would be my top picks.
Hmm, I did not know about red sand beach. I've been to black sand beach and green sand beach, and swam at both (in my pre-tail days). Green sand beach requires a 3 mile hike, or a good SUV, and a climb down a steep incline. Once I got into the water, people on top of the incline all stared at me like I was insane. I may have been. Its a narrow beach with rocks on each side, good size waves, and a along shore current that is so strong you have to swim against it almost non-stop to just stay in place.

I just re-read this entire thread, and have realized I posted the same link 3 times. Oops!

I did not know about green sands beach. Sounds cool. This is red sands:
It has a hike to get to it, with a slippery drop off to certain death covered in pine needles for extra slippage. You basically have to hold on to partially exposed tree roots in some areas. I'm a rock climber and I got nervous, but it was worth it. The volcanic rocks create a little lagoon of nice, calm water, and on the other side are all the smashing waves. The sand was that pourous, pumice-feeling sharp volcano stuff, but the stones in the lagoon are smooth like river rocks. It's an amazing place.
@vrindavana I have found my home! you can just drop me off there and I will be fine. lol
Just go to Hana! That's where we had our honeymoon, and it was so beautiful. There are like, 4 crazy-amazing beaches within 10 minutes of each other - Red Sands, Black Sands, Hamoa Beach... It's like all the rainbow beaches. Don't try to rock climb though, the island doesn't appreciate it and it will let you know. But, so many beautiful mermaid spots.
This summer, I'm going to find mermaid spots in Ireland!
