BLUE IN MY MIND - Swiss Mermaid Movie

Just saw the trailer for BLUE IN MY MIND. A Swiss film about a girl becoming a mermaid. I love seeing all the different takes on mermaid lore coming up in film!

The film is still doing its festival run but I hope it comes to theaters or online soon!

It's premiered at film festivals but since it's an independent film it might not have gotten picked up for distribution yet. The distributor would be the one to put it out for a general audience release, which unfortunately could be a while.

I'm also keeping tabs on it because I haven't been able to see the movie either! I just looked it up and it's at the San Sebastian Film Festival right now. I'll be sure to post here if I find out any updates!

For now here's the movie's FB page: https://www.facebook.com/bluemymindfilm/

And here's a cool article about the film and filmmaker: http://cineuropa.org/nw.aspx?t=newsd...=en&did=332067

This movie is brutal but also a masterpiece!! The reviews are really good, even though it has graphic scenes in it. If you watch it, you will either love it or hate it.

I saw a review that said it bordered on child porn - has anyone watched it? I really want to see it but not interested in an overly sexualized child if so...

I watched a snippet from youtube and it showed the young girl at a club with lots of adult guys. Maybe that's why?

nope, I saw a bit more than that. going to see,the whole movie tomorrow, will let you know. what little I did see was some "breath play" "teen girl on girl kissing" hoping that was the extent of it.

tbh, even the short snippets from the trailer looked very icky. Definitely won't watch, but that's just me.

Ok all please excuse me is I get a bit radical on this, The Paramedic in me is on red alert because of this movie. Oh and ***SPOILER ALERT*** *Takes a deep slow calming breath*. I am in a group that gets together once a month to see Indy films and we picked this one. The overwhelming walkaway was this one is NOT FOR KIDS or anyone that has the overwhelming urge to eat tide pods or snort wasp spray. What you will see in this movie is a (at the time)19 y/o actress portraying a 15 y/o girl who apparently is in some severe need of counciling. (begining of the movie she punches her mom). Then she hooks up with the "bad kids" at school. To say it boarded on child porn is fair. There was a very brief sex scene (like seconds) where she jumped on one of the boys from her school had "Sex" (only the crack of her butt showed). The girls also had some kissing, The scene that got me really upset was the breath play scene, where she is choked out and has an ocean vision. The way they did the choke out is extremly dangerous, This is the same thing that had happened here in the 90's where I had 3 patients (teenagers the same age as this movie 2 are dead and one ended up in a vegetative state. I can see kids spotting the "Mermaid movie" and this kind of crap starting all over again because some dumb ass thought it was "cool"). She starts going through her transformation over a few days blah blah blah, trys to commit sucide via slicing her arm, passes out wakes up with tail. So if you want to see the tail (that was the only part of this whole 1hr and 37 min movie I liked, fast forward to the sucide scene when you see the screen go black your there, start watching the movie, You get a great view of the tail out of the water and eventually in the ocean. They used a more snake like motion than dolphin too.

Eew. Sounds like a waste of time and resources. Definitely a no-no. Why does something like that get alledgedly critical praise in any way?

I've found that many icky, sick movies with a lot of needless brutality (splatter factor) have received praise.
I wouldn't overthink it. Imo, many "modern societies" are far from healthy in that regard. Just avoid!
