Temporary way to fix tail gaping?

So I have a gen 1 Mythic Tail, and I had surgery a month an a half ago. Since then I’ve lost 5 kilos, pretty much all around my waist. My mythic now gapes really badly when I swim and causes a lot of drag and makes for uncomfortable swimming.

I’m going to Mercon in a week, and I’d love to be able to swim normally in it. I will most definitely gain the weight back so I’d hate to physically modify my tail but I’m wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to fix it temporarily? I do have a belt, but it doesn’t help a lot lot as it’s slightly too big for me and only netting.

Any help would be so so so appreciated as this is really stressing me out.

Are you using a normal belt or a gap wrap? Gap wraps usually help with silicone tails, I'm not sure about with the mythic because the scales are resin.

Just have a pretty standard netting belt. I don’t think a gap wrap will work with a mythic unfortunately

I usually decorate a nice light scarf with netting and shells!

You might be able to add a drawstring to it. I always add a drawstring to my tails just because I don't like feeling any kind of gap between my skin and my tail.

Make a belt out of very wide elastic. I have a band of elastic that is 3 or 4 inches wide that I wear over my waist with my fabric tails. I made it a bit snug and then I throw a net belt on top to cover it.

That's a really smart idea! Did you buy it at a craft or fabric store?

I got it at JoAnns. I would go to whatever fabric store you have and ask for their widest elastic.
