Merfolk and education? Tell us about you !!!

I was wondering what level of education does everyone here have? Be it elementary, high school, college, how many semesters of college. And what degrees do y’all have that have finished school?

And how has your education affected your mermaiding? Like it’s harder to mermaid while in school? What your education has brought to your mermaid businesses? And the over all impact mermaiding and your education have had on your life!

Me personally I am 26 I did not graduate high school so I have a GED. I am currently attending college I’d say I have maybe 2 or 3 semesters under my belt so far. But I have no idea what I want to get a degree in. So until I figure it out I’m just gonna start getting a nursing degree. Cause you can do many things with it. And it never hurts to know how to help people!

Mermaiding has helped me break the ice in most of my classes cause each teacher always says “tell us something about you” lol and I always say I like mermaiding! Mermaiding has also helped me stay positive and put my depression and anxiety in check. Especially during testing season!

I hope to start a mermaid business but just don’t have the money to do it just yet!

I still struggle and get over whelmed a lot but each time I put on my tail. I get to leave that behinds for a little while !!!

How about all of y’all ???

I have a BS in math and I’m a software engineer. I didn’t start mermaiding until recently but I learned to scuba dive in college. I have zero interest in becoming a professional mermaid. Mostly because my grownup job pays really well. I mostly just wish I had more time to spend in the water.

    Hi Satine!

What about a degree in business/entrepreneur? This could give you the background you need if you do choose to start a business! I studied Aviation Technology and currently work full time. Just started mermaiding this year but I am hoping to get hired by a local company for nights/weekends. I would volunteer, but they tend to have a monopoly of gigs so I need to get in there! Currently learning to scuba dive, training, and preparing for freediving class to hopefully get me there! I also plan to go to law school next year so that will cut into mermaiding time significantly.

i'm twenty-eight, i initially did not graduate high school but i did a program called the 21+ program and i was able to graduate with a high school diploma last year. i did one year of college majoring in forestry (i wanted to be a ranger), but at the moment i am nearly six months in to my year-long hiatus while i take the time to decide if i want to continue or not based on personal reasons.

at one point i thought about changing my major to oceanography, but i would have to transfer colleges and counties in order to pursue a degree in that field since my area focuses on forestry, business, and teaching.

i haven't really done any mermaiding, but it was more because of my chronic illness than anything else. i've long since tried to find balance, but for now i am content to wear my tail once a year for the pirate event that goes on nearby.

I'm 26, I graduated high school in 2010 and immediately shipped off to Army basic training, after which I learned to fix helicopters. After the Army, I attempted to become a medical assistant, and the school I went to got disaccredited. I did various jobs for a while before I started mermaiding just a year ago. I am now finishing my last term in college to get my EKG/Phlebotomy Certification! I'll continue part-time mermaiding, but I am thinking about doing tail making as well.

I'm 17, I graduate high school next year and I'm doing general subjects, not ATAR. I want to be a pilot when I leave school so that's my next goal. I'm actually going on a flying training course net week which enables me to fly solo and get my recreational pilot's licence! There are a million ways into getting into university here in Australia so when I leave school, I'm doing a TAFE course that specialises in the Bachelor of Aviation and you can do it with either ATAR or General subjects. After I finish the TAFE course, I'm gonna apply for various airline's cadet pilot programs so I can fly. Im my childhood, a lot of kids thought I was weird because they didn't think a girl could fly! But I've proved them wrong as I've flown gliders and small light aircraft while training!

My message to you, if people find you weird because you don't match their expectations, just be happy with yourself because the best thing about yourself is you and don't let anyone change that!
Be the pilot of your dreams

4 years at Cal Tech, BS in Aeronautics. My interest in aeronautics was one of the draws for me to this hobby.

Haven't those silly people heard of Order No. 0099? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_Witches Sheesh, what idiots. Rob is very much into aviation and space history so I've soaked up a bunch of stuff in the 30 odd years we've been married and was RSO for the (Perth Advanced Rocketry Club which we were founding members of) for some years. Can I also recommend The Calculating Stars by Mary Robinette Kowal, which is an alternate history of space flight and women astronauts. Another aviation series I've really been enjoying is The Order of the Air - first one is "Lost Things" by Melissa Scott and Jo Graham which has mild fantastic magic elements but mostly it's all about the flying and the planes and a super lady pilot. I'd love to know what a real pilot thought of them!

I'm 50, going on 19, and I completed high school, which was 12 years at the time in Western Australia. I then went straight into Claremont School of Art and did a Diploma of Fine Art (Sculpture). This meant you did other things like painting and printmaking and even photograph, and drawing, drawing, drawing. I went on to become a seriagrapher, rang a business for some years.

It got a lot easier with technology and on demand third party printers, let me tell you. CafePress has got kind of stupid though, I should really look more at RedBubble.

I've only got into merswim in the past year or so, I've been kind of wistful about it since I found out some years ago it was a thing so I figure for my 50th, what the heck?

    Wow, ChelseaSelkie, tough work. Kudos!

Thank you! And yeah, it is tough but I figure they've lived their lives and been given a bad lot... so it's my turn to take care of them. There's still a lot that I learn every day, and after helping over 40 people navigate the end of their lives in the past 2 years, it has given me a healthy respect and understanding for both the residents and their families.

I just recently turned 27. I have my high school diploma and I studied medical assisting while in Job Corps. Got my CCMA, and CPT. But because of a lack of hands on experience (we only do a three month internship, most places want 2+ years experience,) I haven't been able to get a job in the field. So I'm currently a TA for special education kids.
I'm currently saving money for my own tail but swim with a monfin when I do laps.

I've always enjoyed learning. I'm 25 now, and I have a bachelor's degree in international economics. I always liked the huge amount of assignments we were given. Ever since college, writing assignments were easy for me, especially essay writing. When I didn't know what to write about, I always looked at examples https://writinguniverse.com/free-essay-examples/home/ and that made it easier for me to complete the assignment. I know how students don't like it. Friends always asked me for help with it.

Education is very important for everyone. I develop in different ways and have many hobbies, but because of this I have little time to write homework. I often got bad grades, so I chose https://www.nursingpaper.com/nursing-term-paper/ . This service differs among others in that it is responsible for the work and writes excellent quality paper on time. I recommend to all students to try, as this is a great option.

When I tried to write essays, I ran into problems. There is a huge amount of work to be done, and everything must be finished on time. One day I was looking online for help with my assignments when I came across BrillAssignment . This helped me save time and shield me from irrelevant information. You may live a full life and put worry to rest thanks to these services.

Education is important, even if you are merman. Especially important is the ability to write good scientific texts, such as essays. I work for the service https://essaypaper.review/top10-essay-services-reviews/ where I help people with writing texts or I can do all the work myself. Don't miss your chance to use one of the top 10 essay review services!
