Question about adding silicone scales

I've seen some tutorials on people adding silicone scales to fabric with caulk silicone. I thought it was interesting, but I don't think it would last very long with swimming and the fabric stretching over legs every time they would be worn. Does anyone actually have experience with these types of tails?

I bought one and it’s lasted I do repair it from time to time but it’s worth it for a mid range light weight realistic tail
