    Piping/Smearing on Silicone Scales?

Quick question: My cousin just showed me this cool looking youtube video of someone who made a top by kinda piping and layering the silicone on like frosting a cake. Has anyone done this for an entire tail before? Would it be a recommended way to make a first tail?

    Here's the video:

    Thanks!!

This is basically the method I used for revamping a lot of my hand painted neoprene tails. As long as your patient, take safety precautions, and don't mind spending a chunk of money its a pretty great method for a hybrid tail! There are actually a bunch of threads about silicone caulk tails on here, and the creator of that youtube video also made herself a full silicone tail using the same method! You can find the link here: https://youtu.be/FJzHEarKdsA

Just make sure that you're using aquarium grade silicone and that you do your research before taking on a tin-cure silicone tail!

So this is actually my video! I am so glad you found it. I did also use this technique to make an entire tail. Here is the video for that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJzHEarKdsA&t=230s
