    New sequin tail project!

    Hey guys!

I'm currently in the midst of my latest tail project. I recently got myself the black Fantasea Fin from Mertailor (it's so beautifully floppy) and the Black Pearl sling to go with it. I got the sling to test the monofin out, and because it matched and while I do love the colour and look of it, I can't help but feel the urge to.... BEDAZZLE. What I'm planning is to make the sling for dry use only by decking it out with sequins from Cartwright's and get myself a wet tail skin for swimming.
(Moon Kelp fabric fin, I seeee you)

Currently, these are the sequins we're workin' with:

Sorry for the quality but at the top I have Satin Pearl, Glossy Black and Aztec Gold (I am sooo in love with this one) and then at the bottom for detailing I have more Satin Pearl, Cabana Blue and what I think is Sunglow? It's a lemony yellow with a green shine to it, I just don't have the packaging anymore.

As far as design, I want the monofin to speak for itself, it's silicone, sparkly and floppy as heck. With the body I'm torn for ideas. I'm stuck between going with a clown fish or a koi betta sort of look. So far this is what I have:

I'm also trying to decide if I should use fabric paint to cover most of where the sling sit over the monofin so I'm not popping off scales every time I'm taking the its on and off, OR if I should cut the bottom of it and then install a Velcro piece or snaps to make getting in and out of it easier? would there be too much pull on that part when I move?

    What are everyone's thoughts?

Same! That's the one I'm going to go with, I think it'll make the colours look a lot more vibrant!

    Update time!
I've started gluing sequins in the clown fish pattern! What do we think?

I've also started adding in the blue sequins into the white and black, and the yellow sequins (which I've learned are in Sundrop) into the gold by layering them. Pretty much I've just been gluing the smaller sequins directly into the centre of the larger ones, it also helps cover up those pesky holes in the big ones! Here's a lil' close up.

Stiiiiiill not totally sold on what I want to do with the end of the sling. Part of me wants to cut it and put in some Velcro or snaps so I can extend the sequins down a bit.

    Looking gorgeous so far!!!!
I’m also going to be using the 22mm sequins for my tail, not sure of colors yet though, trying to decide between an Ariel inspired tail or a goldfish tail.

    You are never alone.
    There are about
    7,266,786,800 people in the world.
    So mathematically speaking,
Even if your are one in a million there are still about
72,667 people who are just like you.

Are you using e6000 to glue the sequins to a spandex tail? Is it loosing stretch? Are you also sewing them down?

I love the way it's turning out!!! That pattern is amazing.

Hi I’m also working on a tail with the same sequins, she’s using the 22mm and the 12mm shell sequins from ccartwright.com

Im curious if you decided to leave it as a sling, or if you went with velcro or snaps. Im considering doing a similar project with a fantasea fin and was wondering how to go about attaching velcro or snaps to the fin, maybe silpoxy?

Very true! And I suppose having snaps or Velcro wouldn't visually be that different from a sling.
