DIY silicone mermaid tail under 200 dollars

    Hi everyone!

im kinda new to mernetwork but I already love this community!

today I would like to share a little project of mine. Wich is.... A DIY SILICONE MERMAID TAIL FOR UNDER 200 dollars!!!!!

is that possible? Yes it is! Well honestly I’m not finished yet but I’m almost there!

so what I used as a base is neoprene. I also put the monofin wich I made myself in the neoprene (for the drainholes) and painted it with fabric paint.

then when everything was dry I covered the fin with silicone.

And thats pretty much where I am now, the next step is covering the whole tail in scales.

and I’ll see how it looks like dry.

does anyone know how to care for a silicone/neoprene tail?

I used silicone from a Dutch store, it’s from the brand Bison. Its meant for all kinds of waterproof uses, but It’s says on the back it’s marine life safe I’m not sure if they sell it in other countries?

    Here’s the link: https://www.bison.nl/nl/product.618

Hey guys! A little update. My project is currently on pause because I have a huge mountain of schoolwork to complete. I’ll continue on next week!

Dutch: oh fijn! Ik had al hele duren gekocht van 10 euro maar daar had ik er gewoon 5 van kunnen kopen bij de action haha

    THE TAIL IS DONE OMG!

So when the tail was done I did a first swim in it... the tail it’s self was completely waterproof and it worked. But the monofin wasn’t very fast. So I replaced it with the mahina. I also did a little repainting on the fin and made a backfin with leftover neoprene. I can’t wait to test it out in the water with the mahina in it the previous time with the plastic monofin I could only swim for 2 minutes. So that sucked. Anyways if you want to see more of the proces I also made a YouTube video on how I made it.
I’ll be able to swim with it at 25 of Juli or later. And maaaaybe earlier, I hope!

Don’t be shy to ask questions
