    Tail bags

Not quite sure where to put this so feel free to move it.

I am kinda new to the mermaiding community and am currently in this process of makining my first tail. Its coming along great and i want to keep it protected. I have a fabric tail and a few acessories that i want to keep all in one place since im prone to losing things. I am unsure, however if a tail bag is necessary and/or helpful or a hassle. And if more helpful then hassle, how do i make it and what material should i use?

Hi MikkySiren! I personally use this bag I got from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I like it because I can fit everything I need in it (This past weekend it had my tail, towel, two monofins, a sign, treasure chest, clothes, and all the accessories I keep always keep in it like goggles, ear plugs, lotion, etc) and there was still more room. There is a drainage hole on the bottom and it is very sturdy!

A large foil and extra large shooter. It’s like Mary Poppin’s handbag!

A waterproof art portfolio bag also works as a tail bag.

I use one of those big, blue Ikea bags to carry my tails: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/17228340/
They are cheap, waterproof and big enough for more than 1 tail.

Be cautious! Those bags are not as waterproof as they may seem. Used them for my dive equipment, and they leaked. Not as much as if I had put the gear without them in my car, but nevertheless.

That said, I also use them a lot, even for my diving gear. They are really sturdy, big and really affordable. The problem is not the fabric itself, but the seams. They let water seep through. But if you keep that in mind, they are great for all purposes and a thousand more.

If you have a large monofin or are using a silicone tail, I reccomend a Waterway Monofin Bag. Get the heavy duty one. This makes it so much easier to carry your tail around and to take your tail on planes if you have a big one.
