I wanted a lightweight, realistically moving fin for land. I am learning static trapeze and think it will be interesting to perform in a tail, because it will be much harder. I wanted to get started right away so I sculpted the negative of this fin in regular potter's clay and filled it with silicone caulk with pigments mixed in. If you are only making one fin in a particular design you can carve your mold right into the clay instead of making a clay version and taking a mold from that. Video is here.
This wasn't too economical as it used 7 tubes of caulk. It has similar propulsion to a foil. I like a lot more propulsion. Haven't tried it on the trapeze yet, my gym is picky. Movements that are hard on land with this fin are impossible with the Mahina, so I have high hopes.
