    Monofin on planes?

    Heya everyone!

I wanted to ask the mermmunity if you guy know if any specific rules for bringing monofin and tails in luggage for a plane? I am hoping to go swimming is clearer waters but I’m not sure if my tail would be allowed to come with me on the plane.

    Hello Sirenea,

I have traveled with my monofin at least 5 times and I've never had any problems.

Same. If it fits, you are good to go. I do have a large suitcase to put it in.

You can just carry it. I didn't even get weird looks. Just tucked it under my arm and carried it around, slipping it into the overhead on top of my carry-on

It was the carry on suitcase with my tails in it. I just put the monofin on top. And when I wasn't carrying it, I put the foot end into the pocket of the suitcase, but I had to carry it on the plane so I wouldn't smack people with it. Then I just tucked it away in the overhead compartment. Keep in mind I have a fin fun and there were a few indentations on the neoprene from being sandwiched but other than that it was fine

If anyone asked, I said I was an amateur freediver, which isn't technically wrong

There are no rules surrounding carrying mermaid tails on planes. If it fits in your bag or suitcase, you are good to go. I've brought mine to Greece and Egypt.

Do you check your bags in when you fly?

I didn't check my monofin. I literally carried it with me and stuck it in the overhead bin. I didn't have in a suitcase or anything just a monofin.
