I had no idea she was that age. She was more active than me at Alexander Spring meetup with Faith.

A kick scooter is great... now get a dog, a sledding harness and a gangline, and you can do "scootering" or "dryland mushing". Any dog who likes to run (most of them) will run in front of you and give you some pull... all you need is some basic commands like stay, let's go, and ON-BY (expletive deleted) (aka LEAVE IT) when the squirrel crosses your path.

    AWWWWWWWWWWWWW SNOOKIEPOOS!!!!!

I've never heard anyone say anything bad about their Rotties. They should be easy to teach commands, and really strong. Maybe not fast (or maybe they are!!!) but who cares about fast... If you don't do bikes or scooters, you can use a recumbent trike... a friend has one and her Bernese Mountain Dog pulls it (with a little help from pedaling). A sledding harness (X-back, H-back, urban mushing harness) and a two dog line is all you need!

    my random experience here: https://www.swordwhale.com/dogs-on-wheels.html

    Rotties are awesome!

I have a continuing battle with health and fitness. I have a Planet Fitness membership (cheap enough even I can afford it), and go mermaiding at the local pool as often aws I can. I have kayaks to take out in summer, and one oldish horse who will still do some work. I also have to slog around the Tiny Farm taking care of stuff. I tend to hibernate in winter (except the dogs drag me kicking and screaming out onto the trail to do a run on bike or rig or sled)(and the pool is open). I've got a "rider/rower" I rescued from a yard sale for $15, a stability ball, and a tai chi form.

Yesterday went on a road trip with some friends to their kid's college, took a hike around the campus after lunch and...ergh.

This morning made a point of doing the tai chi and 20 minutes on the rider.

    Ergh.

Anybody else having the fitness battle?

The older you get the more important it is, just to be able to function and do what you love. A 70 year old friend now has to walk with a cane. (my knees are crap and I use a hiking staff, and try to do non-walking exercise).

Yeah, you have to find things you can get excited about, enjoy, to keep moving.

I turned 49 nine days ago. It's funny- I've never really been one to care what others think about what I do or how I look, but somehow age has made this even more how I see things. You're over 40. Do what you want. If you can't do what you want as you get older, when can you? You've earned it.

I'm actually getting a bit more confident everytime I get in the pool. I did my first forward roll in the pool and I was so ecstatic and proud of myself I kinda shouted yes and the life guard was looking at me lol

If you don't use it, you'll lose it. It's important to keep moving.

I got one of those things to track both movement and exercise. Even if the device was originally to quantify to my doctors how much exercise I get, my entire household was surprised to learn how much I actually move around. I consistently have the "high score" for both movement points and exercise.

Just heard something on NPR about fidgeters burning more calories than non-fidgeters.

Could be "restless leg syndrome" or just high energy (had a boyfriend like that once...gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh)...

Either way, it's part of your fabulous neurodiversity. We should celebrate our little quirks! (I've got a few...dozen)...
