    Merman Help?

So, I’m going to buy a mermaid tail from FinFun this summer. A couple problems. First of all, I do have a fetish for mers, though I am far from a “mervert”. I do want to be a good part of this community, but I find it hard to come out of the closet, especially to my family, and even thinking about wearing the tail makes my penis stiff, so I need help on how to not harden it when I get the tail. A little help, guys? I’m sure some of you may have the exact same story.

I can't really emphasize enough the reassurance I felt when I saw this post. Ever since I was about twelve, I've felt a fetish for mers, though I didn't know what it was then. I've felt really embarrassed about it. I've only barely managed to squeak it out to my dad once or twice.
Like you, I feel like I'm far from a mervert. When I talked to my dad about it, he kept on asking me if I was looking at porn related to this, but I emphasized that it was really anything to do with merpeople, and nudity actually wasn't arousing me.

I don't know if we have the exact same circumstances, but I just... I just feel honestly a lot better knowing there's another guy out there with this - I'm not completely strange. I've been going ten years now, and until recently, when I really started doing some careful research of sexual fetishes, have I gotten any indication that I'm normal.
Thanks for your willingness to share. I really appreciate it.

As for your own stuff, I can say I'm not sure what to do about it. I think tail swimming sounds cool, even just as a water sport, but I'm afraid that I'd get aroused pretty quick too. I'd like to try tail-swimming, but with my self-consciousness, I don't see myself being comfortable with it anytime soon. It's also part of the larger question of "do I actually like stuff that has to do with merpeople, or is it just my fetish?"

I'd imagine, like with most merfolk stuff with me, that repeated use of the tail will probably make the fetish towards it less intense. I don't know if you have the same thoughts as me with tail-swimming. It's your choice after all, what you want to do with it.

And if you ever need to have a private talk about some of this stuff, I'll always be there to help out a fellow merman.

Do you get the same result when swimming with just the monofin? If no, then do that instead of swimming with the tail skin and fin combo. Build up some immunity.

I think that's some great advice. Using the monofin would build up your resistance to it. Question, if you're not talking about this openly, how are you going to get your tail?

    Huh. Interesting.
Well, I'm not a guy so I can't give you dude advise, but I would try searching online what competitive male swimmers do for stuff like that. Maybe they wear extra layers or something?

The good news is, when you swim in a tail, the front of you is typically facing downward to the bottom of the pool or ground plus you are underwater so people are less likely to notice. When I swim down the lane at a college pool hardly anyone pays any attention to me.
You would only have to worry about when you are getting in and out of the water, but you could keep a towel close to the edge of the pool to quickly cover yourself when you get out.

You could always start off wearing your tail in the bathtub if you have a bathtub you can fill up with water. That way you can get used to it before you are in public.

    I hope this helps!

Take care of business just before you swim. Do your tail swimming during your refractory period.
