    Dryland exercises for mermaiding

    Hi everyone!

What are some drylands exercises you might recommend to help with mermaiding specifically when you can't get to a pool? I found a few drylands exercises for the dolphin kick that look great, but I was curious if there were any mermaiding-focused exercises you might also recommend.

    Thanks so much!

I know this may sound like a joke...because it is.....

Act like a fish out of water. Get on the ground and start flopping around like you are trying to get back into the water.

During quarantine, I've found yoga to be a very fulfilling and appropriate for trapped workouts. I'm lucky that my neighbor is a yoga instructor and transitioned her weekly classes to Facebook live-streaming during the Covid-19 thing, but when I want more mermaid-specific challenges there's a couple yoga-with-tail sessions out that aren't entirely embarrassing or lame. I've done both of these Youtube videos several times, and they're can get to be quite the workout when heaving yer fluke around.

Don't do breath holding if you live by yourself!

I find core workouts useful since so much of swimming relies on core strength. You can do sit ups, crunches, planks, scissor kicks, and leg lifts all silently which is especially useful if you live with roommates, family, or in an apartment building! I also like to do yoga like someone above mentioned and some Pilates exercises!
