By the way, I actually used to look at reddit and 9gag, but it was making me unproductive, so I actually went cold turkey. I haven't visited either one since 2011.

Ex-redditor here, also. Not because it was unproductive though, but because I thought that the quality of submissions and comments have severely deteriorated over the years. :\ The community in several sub-reddits are still amazing. I just got really sick of the frontpage crap.
Ha, yeah, I know what you mean. My brother made a similar comment about 9gag recently. I'm not talking about the individual users when I say this, I'm talking about the collective identity of reddit and 9gag- the amassed id of these sites probably isn't as smart or individualistic or original or clever as it thinks it is.
