Sea Pearl, without worrying price, what can you afford, how big is perfect. Have you seen what you thought was perfect with a picture?

I have access to a larger one that's seven feet across at its widest point so I can safely say that the smaller, the better. Transporting it is a nightmare and it can only be used for large-scale events like conventions.

I definitely love your shell. It's an adorable color and it looks perfect!

HAHAHA I want one too, but -- like you -- mine ALSO has to fit in a corolla!

Kariel has one for sale! http://www.mermaidkariel.com/go-shop...egory=12126805
It's a bit expensive though, going for $599
From her post on facebook seems like she had them custom made.

I think linden has one too. They were all ordered from the same place I think Kariel just ordered extra to sell

If an affordable version of an inflatable clamshell surfaced somewhere, I would be all over it! But $600? Pass.

Yeah, and I need something that can get wet. We're always around water and I just don't want to worry about a safety issue. Our giant clam shell will be finished March 15. I ended up hiring the technical director at the theater I act at to make it for me- my brother in law just couldn't with time and materials to experiment. But Brad is a scenic designer and it's going to look amazing. I will post pictures as it progresses!

$599 + shipping from Hawaii and it's not water proof.

But it sure does look cool.

I love the look of that, but i am a CHEAP mermaid. I could make that with some pool floats and some outdoor fabric. I actually think I'm going to make a giant seashell throne once i finish my nice tail.

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR SHELL!!! What worked, what didn't, what would you change, etc. I had no one to ask.

Haha. Well... it is concrete, which is okay, but the edges are a bit rough (the scalloped lip bit) so we have to be careful about our fluke rubbing on it.
It stays in that location year round.

The back is at a bad angle, so you can't really sit up straight.

It has water in it, which is kinda dumb, but the big thing is keeping the drain from clogging when kids inevitably toss rocks in it. And the water gets gross looking fast.

It could also benefit from being a bit deeper (front to back, not up and down) if it were, it would be more comfortable to sit it. One could have their legs straight with a draped fluke instead of the kind of awkward angle now. It works for me (5'5") but some of the taller girls had issues in the past.

We kinda stand on the "meat" of the oyster to put our tails on, because we have to get in costume in the place we perform. So that could be a touch flatter. Sometimes I stand with my heels in trench-y bit.

(Also, I think I recall it being said that FinFolk had a part in the design/construction. This is not accurate. It was created by the grounds crew at Scarby.)

If I missed anything, let me know!
