Not to be a jerk or anything but I noticed on the Mermagica facebook page quite a few complaints, I'll quote some but I've removed usernames....:

I thought that meant business was booming so I went to congratulate them when I saw these comments (I think there were more that may have been deleted)
Well I would like to say how UN-happy I am with your service (or lack of service)! No response to my issues!!! I would not recommend you to anyone. Too expensive with no customer service now my daughter cannot use her tail nor have I been able to get a response to get a new one
THIS IS NOT A NEW PROBLEM!!!! We got my daughter one for Christmas and after a few uses it is crap. It took forever to get our order with no response from Mermagica at all until we found the business owners and started calling their cell phones which were listed on their business patent online. Jose "Joe" Davila 214-717-8448 is the one listed now not sure if that is the one I called.

I just got a phone call from a lovely lady in Southern California that she had my green Tail! Also, she had a gold tail for a lady in North Carolina! So both our orders got stuck into hers. She did say her daughters loved their Blue & Pink fins and were swimming in them at the time. But now we are trying to figure out how to get mine to me without her having to pay for it and without me having to give her my personal info. If you are missing a gold tail and live in North Carolina, she left you a voice mail. At least we know that they weren't lost in the mail. Really wish Mermagica would keep better track of their orders tho!

I placed an order on May 10 and was told on May 20th that my order was scheduled to ship this coming Tuesday May 24 and would provide a tracking email once my items have been dispatched. i emailed you on Thursday, May 26th for track info-no response. i've given you more than enough days to make (3-5day) and ship (paid extra for the 2-3 day shipment). omg Im so desappointes my cousin birthday was on may 31 (yesterday) but we will make for her a party on friday ...june 3 and until now I didnt recieve anything yet I order a tail on may 15 for her birthday and I think that I will not give her anything for her birthday even though she is my best cousin , I called mermagica and leave for thiem a messages but they never respond :"(
mabye i should buy one from another website...
have ordered recently order confirmation # 2166...l/m on phone number and three emails to confirm when product will be shipped...debit card already charged the day I ordered....not happy with no response..is this a scam??? Please respond!!!!

There's a couple things I read that strike alarm bells for me. 1 is that I noticed is that there are people boycotting the Mermaid Awards and thus this company and I am wondering if any of the other ones taking part are prepared for that? 2. A lot of people are complaining about their tails taking too long to come or not at all even after they've paid extra for fast shipping. 3. It seems anyone who has questions or concerns is phoning, emailing, and writing on facebook without response.



I'm not passing judgement I was just surprised to see all of this happening. I hope if it's true they get their act together because they have affordable tails that a lot of kids buy.

Something must have happened they don't seem to want to talk about, or they got hit with a lot of orders (when Pirates came out? Ramping up to WMA?) and it exposed problems with the scalability of their production process. They seem to put out a good product - but not a horribly complex one - and I can't believe it takes that long to put one together, so either they got absolutely slammed with orders lately and weren't ready or able to deal with it, or something's up behind the scenes.

And OH yeah, you're going to find a DA who isn't your brother-in-law to make a federal case out of a $100 mermaid tail (Assuming you can demonstrate intent to defraud, and then be able to show Federal standing). Come on people...I wonder how much of their own problems are in fact their customers. This is what happens when you shoot for that market segment...I feel like you get more of the entitlement complex at the low end than the high. Mike running a week or two behind on a tail? "No problem...for $3000, take your time, man, it's going to be amazing!"

I had heard good things about them before from most people. There were a few incidents where some tails fell apart at the seams in the past but it didn't happen a lot. Looks like they just can't handle the spike in orders. They need to pull it together or shut down the order page for a while or else they're going to ruin their reputation for good.

well, since posting this I've now been blocked from their page. Which is a shame considering I didnt have an opinion and now that simple move has given me one, however I only had it liked with my mermaid account I can still see it on my personal account. So I guess they read the forums here too.

If you're reading mermagica, I just quoted what was publicly on your page passing no judgement. This IS a review forum and people who are looking to buy your tails are going to see the same thing on your facebook. That's disappointing as I have only ever written nice things on your page and wouldn't pass judgement on a product I've never owned.

I was thinking about getting one of theirs, though to be honest, this won't put me off buying one of their tails - I'll probably just wait until after the WMA and see how they're going then. They've had a good rep up until this...

I think your point about the WMA is interesting....I hope that some of this anger towards the awards doesn't turn into anger against any of the mermaids participating ya know?


Also I would wait until they have proven their good rep again before ordering any tails from them...especially when there are so many other places that sell fabric tails. I was recommending them to quite a few people as well, then people started emailing me telling me I shouldn't promote them I didnt think anything of it really I think it was like 3 or 4 people who emailed me? but blocking you is kinda shitty....and now that I realize all the people that are unhappy I'm not going to recommend them to anyone else until this changes.

That's what I was thinking Raven. A lot of people seem to have different issues with WMA (mostly dolphin related) and I am concerned too that it's going to end up on certain people. It's too bad. Sita's doing her best but you can't please everybody. I was just surprised to see such outright protest of it.

It's interesting you got emailed messages about it. I have another quote

appolize my ass...I left you several messages and emails with no response...my order #2118. My daughters birthday has come and gone and she never got her tail nor did I ever hear from you about what was happening with my order. someone posted that you were out of business but yet you continue to respond to "some message"....I guess you chose who you will and will not respond to. So many of my daughters friends were waiting to see the tail and order one for themselves but now you won't get any of that business. I'm surprised anyone still orders from you after reading this site.
I dont know why so many companies believe staying silent will help their cause. They need to match it head on just like Eric did and address it. It only makes it worse to ignore it and leave people to do what they will

I ordered a super tail and matching swimsuit from Mermagica, inc. I got a tail that was 12 inches too long and too wide by 2 inches (and I am a seamstress, I was very specific with my measurements), and a swimsuit not even CLOSE to the measurements I sent them. Then to top it all off, they sent me a lesser valued, USED monofin, NOT what is guaranteed on their website! I called and emailed and got no response. I had to file a dispute with paypal, to get a customer service response. (Take away their money and they respond pretty quickly) I paid to send the tail back to them to be fixed, and instead of resewing the side seam, youc an see where they just put the serger on it and took it in with a separate seam. They sent back the SAME used monofin. They refused to respond after that, because paypal released their money.

I filed a dispute with the BBB, which they refused to respond to. Buyer beware with Mermagica!
