    How To Make Mer-Belts

So, how do you make mermaid tail belts?? I've seen that it is a big trend and I am really interested in learning how to craft them. Any ideas? ThanX

If you're looking for a tie belt sort of thing you cant buy netting and either sew or some how fasten shells and what-not to it. That's my next project

It also depends on the material you want to make it out of too

Raina had a thread recently where she shared her jewelry and belt making experiences. She doesn't specifically walk you through her process, but you might find it useful anyway.

I was just thinking about this myself. I wanted to make myself at least a makeshift belt since my tail is too big. I was thinking about buying some elastic and then sewing on/covering up with netting, shells, etc.

I'm going to make a weight belt using fishing weights and shells, the belt itself will be using my leftover netting from my top. I'll post about it when I start making it.

I went on Amazon and bought actual fishing net for mine, then reinforced it and added clasps inside the edge knots so i avoid damaging it when taking it on and off. Then i found a 1/32 drill bit tip for my dremel...very hard to find, most hardware stores don't have smaller than 1/16...to drill holes in seashells. I tied the shells and other pearls and beads strategically around the netting, and voila!

I have the opposite problem when it comes to floating! I don't float enough! I'm planning on making an elastic belt with fishing net to help hold my tail up though. I think I saw a giant bag of netting at Michael's for like $10
