Hey Malinghi... it's called a fairy Basslet! I love em! here's another cool one:
Look at that Triggerfish!!! Purple and Pink! Crazy!!!!
I LOVE humuhumu! But when I used to snorkel in Hawaii... I saw a lot more Humus that had this pattern:
So cute! You know what the name means, right? It's Hawaiian for: "the Fish that grunts like a pig!"
WOAH. that purple & pink one is AWESOME.
how about...
If you like pink and purple. Anthias male
Ah! Trigger fish are so pretty, but they are little stinkers! Got bit by one, while trying to catch another fish! I think he thought it was yummy yummy food time.
Oh! I get to do todays!
Klunzinger's Wrasse. Another Red Sea fish.
This wrasse has such cool face markings that I think it would be awesome if someone made a tail and then continued some of the markings with body paint all the way up to the face.
WOW! THAT is an AWESOME FISH!! I pride myself in knowing a lot of marine biology (and zoology in general) but I did not know this specific wrasse! I am so pleased you posted it! I LOVE finding new things!!
There are so many awesome fish in this thread, and so few I know of. I'm just glad I was able to contribute at least one good fish.
I'm looking back over the trigger fish. They are so funny looking, but in a cool way.
ISNZISKSDONDOD THAT WRASSE IS SOOO PRETTY!!!
So I decided to do today's fish still on the wrasse theme.. they are all so amazing. So I'm gonna focus on one group of wrasse and post pics of a couple species since there are so many in the group and WOW are they varied!!! SO BEAUTIFUL. They are called "flashers" cause they have beautiful, colorful displays where they flash their fins and intensify their colors! Amazing!!
I LOVE that first fish! Imagine him as a tail *big googley eyes*
"Silence is beautiful, not awkward. The human tendency to be afraid of something beautiful is awkward."
well, I am gonna post the next again since I wanna keep this going! I love seeing people's favorite fish!
Now, as I was looking up the wrasse that green52 posted, I found this one: it's called the African Creole Wrasse.. and I did a google on the common name and it's scientific name and there were only 2 pics I could find easily, and it's sad, cause it's cool! It immediately jumped out at me for the loooong caudal filaments (which I love ANY trailing filaments on fins...) Otherwise, I thought it seemed a bit dull, but then I noticed that it's hindparts are a dark scale (almost blackish) but the top of the first half of the fish SEEMS to be covered in highly reflective bright greenish scales that are such a nice contrast. Whatdya'll think?
A personal favorite, the weedy seadragon:
(Formerly known as Æolius)
