Something I think all the Mers should know. Someone seriously crossed the line.

So recently I received a bad review. Normally I wouldn't let it get to me and just try to improve on whatever negative feed back I got. But this time, I'm afraid someone has crossed the line and not just with me.
I made a tail for someone that didn't think it was up to par. That's ok, it happens. You can't please everyone. However, can someone tell me why this person, instead of coming to me with any issues because everyone knows I will do what I can to fix them, turns around and sells the damaged tail on ebay. Ok, that's fine too. It doesn't offend me at all if someone I make a tail for decides to sell it. What does offend me is that she posted in her review, and I quote "Definitely COULD NOT SWIM in tail" and "There is NO WAY to swim in this tail" and then she lists it on ebay with this in the description? "This is a great tail- be the first to swim in it!" oh and "A brand-new, unused, and unworn item". The review was posted on June 6th. The tail was sold on ebay on May 25th.

The eBay description is totally different than the review they wrote. Like they're lying to make it sell for more. Honestly I think before they sold it they should have talked to you. I'm sure you would have done your best to work out any problems. I wouldn't worry about it too much though, you can't please every single person you come across and you're bound to get one bad apple, and I highly doubt it'll lower your sales or anything like that. Still, sorry that happened to you. :/

I agree with waterwolf you really can't please everyone. And for the record the materials on the fluke and dorsal definitely don't look like felt to me. However just try not to take it personally and remember all of the good reviews you have gotten. If they really did have that much trouble with the tail then I suspect that they did what every ebay seller does and pumps up whatever they are selling to make it go faster. You will never know why she left such a horrible review but you just have to move on and take time to breathe.

i noticed that in the review, she said that the fringe wasn't as she requested it (like hannahs) and that it was felt, but when i look at the ebay listing the fringe looks to me like it is the matting that hannah used and that the painting looks totally fine. But then again, There will always be people like that. I really don't know what could have made them want to post a review like that then turn around and sell the tail saying something totally different. The best i can say is that this person did it to make a profit and it has nothing at all to do with the tail she recieved not being up to pare.

thats messed up i guess she figured she can use the tail, paint it up and turn a profit for another mertailor tail . If the tail was sold may 25th and the review was june 6th then Im going to assume its a "Fake" review. Im sorry but if she had an issue she should have came to you about it. that is so freakin wrong..

It's bound to happen, that's just business She knew she could have come to me with any issues but it was her choice not too. However, I am highly upset and offended that she would lie to sell that tail. Mermaid Loki could have got a brand new tail, in working order for half what she paid for the damaged tail. And what really bothers me, is in her MerNetwork listing to advertise that it was on ebay, she doesn't give any specifics there about the tail, either. Just leads everyone on and makes them think it's in perfect condition. I just don't like liars. I feel so bad for Loki and I really wish she'd report the sale to ebay for false advertising and try to get her money back. So many people get away with scamming unsuspecting, honest customers it drives me crazy.

Don't worry, all of your other reviews are so positive that anyone who really considers purchasing from you will see that you do quality work. I know it might be scary to think that someone might just see the bad one. but with the price of tails, I doubt that someone would do so little research as to not look at all of the reviews and be a serious byer. I DID send a message and an email to user Mermaid Loki informing her of the details of the matter, and also informed her that with the photographic and text evidence that is on the net (and screen captured just in case) that proves her listing description of the item is false, she CAN contest the item and payment with eBay and Paypal if she is unsatisfied with her purchase. It is very likely that if she wishes to follow through she can receive a refund of her money and/or return the item. I let her know that if she decides to do so the community will stand behind her. It's sad to see that a fellow mermaid would act in such a way, but unfortunately it does happen. I hope you will find some comfort in knowing that if Loki chooses she can contest and possibly receive a refund for this false listing.

ugh Im sorry that happened to you Stephanie. Alex Plus can be super tricky with the curing when it comes to inside the fluke. Im not sure if that's what you used inside, but heads up you can use a quick drying silicone inside if you wanted, doesnt matter if it's clear either because it's inside and no one sees it and it should bond to fabric. That may deal away with the fins coming unstuck too early.

There are a few things I really appreciate about how you do business
1. You constantly communicate with customers- it takes a lot of effort on your part, and even those who havent bought from you appreciate that transparency.
2. You're always willing to receive constructive feedback, try new things, and make fixes.
3. you give info sheets with your tails- something mertailor really should be doing in my opinion.

Sometimes, there is just a lemon. it's no ones fault, it happens. The person should have contacted you BUT I know when they were having issues with their mertailor tail he never gave them any positive responses so she may have wrongly judged all tail makers because of that. Also, you may have been receiving left over frustrations from the issues with her first mertailor tail. None of those are your responsibility, and Im not excusing the reviewers actions either, just something I think may have very well been a key factor.

However the whole re-sell thing etc uspet me, and also that they didnt contact you. Im sorry this experience happened, I hope you wont let it deter you from continuing to make tails. I will say Alex plus from personal experience is not long lasting. And in no way trying to be a jerk to you, but people need to understand if they're only payin 200 or so $ for a tail made from Alex plus, they can't expect it to be silicone quality.

I'm not sure what caused the fins to come unstuck as described in the review, but I don't use the Alex as adhesive. It takes a really long time to dry between the latex covered neoprene and it collects moisture pretty easily which makes it not so great for bonding. I use E6000 glue for anything I need a strong adhesive for. But any number of things could have happened, that's why I wasn't upset about the review, just what she chose to do with her tail and to Mermaid Loki.
I expect hiccups in this business as in any other business That's why I love the constructive criticisms I receive. You've all been so wonderful and welcoming. I never imagined it'd be this rewarding joining this community. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to all the mers I've encountered since I began my business.

Not about the whole re-selling thing, but the fact people freakin' leave bad reviews without even
contacting you or giving you a chance to fix it!
I've had 2 bad reviews for some horns I sell and the first one was written AWFULLY! The lady literally
let out all her frustration on me and wrote how terrible and unuseable the horns were. After reading a
review like that, you sort of want to know wtf went wrong and what the product even looks like! After I
contacted her she ended up telling me the horns weren't even that bad!!! So it's like why the hell do you
write a review that makes me seem like such a bad guy @_@
Not only that, I offered to fix it afterwards..

This person seems like a total scumbag. But of course, they're not going to say it's a bad tail if they're trying
to re-sell it. That's a pretty low move on their part.
All Mermaid Loki has to do is report it via paypal or eBay buyer protection.
Just say the item wasn't as described and they'll file a claim for you if the seller doesn't give you a refund or
offer to fix it.
I'd totally try to get it returned to the seller, she seems like a really lame person to try and pass on a tail
she didn't like to someone else under the impression that it was good.

The only thing I can say is that she is insane. The review must be fake. I already told the Mer in question (via a thread) my opinion on the thing. I hope she was just a horrific liar, because I want Loki to receive a usable tail. My advice to Loki: report it, demand (if anything) a partial refund, so that it evens out to what she would have directly paid Stevi for it.

Stevi, we've talked about this I know, but don't get discouraged. She obviously was a con artist. Ignore that review entirely.

So on a good note! I talked to Mermaid Loki! She said the tail was great aside from the fluke separating at the bottom and she asked me how she should fix it so I advised her how to fix it and hopefully soon maybe she'll share some pictures with us!
And a huge thanks to everyone for your support! I wasn't going to let a bad review get me down but I also wasn't going to let a bad person get away with ripping off a fellow mer with one of my tails. I just felt a need, a responsibility to share what I knew with the scammed mermaid and everyone else. So many people try to get away with scamming others and they're just rotten eggs. I know a few. So, I'm just so glad we have a pretty much happy ending for this

i saw the tail and it looked fine to me, not really my color but it looked fine
i love my tail even with the few little problems and i mean FEW LITTLE problems.
and if i really had any issues with it i would would have told you and asked you how we can go about fixing it
i would go sale the tail after writing a slanderous review

and Im so glad you COULD! I feel like lately on mernetwork there's been a lot of buzz around "Drama" and I know a lot of people who refuse to post about similar issues because they dont want to be accused of starting drama or actually starting it etc. I think it's INSANELY Important that people speak up about these things!!! I wouldnt have known this had happened if you hadnt brought it up and Im glad you did. <3
