there was a woman who was a chimera and didnt know it. She had two sets on DNA in her body and the dominant DNA set did not match her children. There was a custody issue, and she couldnt prove scientifically that her children were hers even though she had video of delivering them. She did a DNA test and it didnt match! Eventually they found the matching DNA in some obscure part of her body and that was the ONLY place they found it. I wish I could remember more about it, I'd post a youtube link or news article.

Yeah, I think CSI did an episode with a Chimera whose sperm was technically the DNA of his other side, while his skin and hair tags were his 'usual' DNA. It was very interesting.

So what are merfolk to eat, then? Yes, I am a citizen of the ocean. Yes, I agree that creatures of the sea are beautiful. But I love seafood.

and one of these days I'd like to try dreamfish... sarpa salpa fish that have eaten caulerpa taxifolia seaweed... apparently the experience is hallucinogenic.

@Aeolius We herbivorous merfolk eat seaweed, kelp, and sea-berries.

They will never go extinct so long as lobsters are alive, they get they're coloring from a mutation in their DNA or an EXTREMELY rare recessive gene. Unless humans step in with specialize and selective breeding programs they will die out, though eventually the mutation will happen again and there will be another uniquely colored lobster of the same shade. It boils down to being nothing more then a numbers game, a very large numbers game but a numbers game all the same. Not unlike many humans.

my aunt stabs lobsters in the brain and then cooks them. its really sad and i threw up when she did it. but she said its the most humane way to kill them. But if you boil the lobster you can hear it scream, no joke. i hate eating lobster its so sad! D:

that's awesome! i saw a picture of a kitten the other day who was a calico and solid print, and the head was split down the middle. my bestie swore it was photoshopped, but these lobsters prove that nature does some amazing patterns!

The lobster is not screaming, it's the sound of steam escaping from the shell. Like a tea kettle left on a burner.
