EVERYONE IS SO PURDY.
I haven't updated in a while... So... PHOTO DUMP
Really BEAUTIFUL pics, Raina!!!!! Some of those would be great to illustrate a children's book or be a fun coffee table book.
Nosing about this thread...you are all gorgeous and amazing!!!!
My twins, who are 4, peeked over my shoulder to see what I was looking at and said "Look! Fishes. No...lady. Fish Lady!!!" lol
Over the weekend my family took a trip to see my Grandparents. We had about a 9 hour trip to my Grandparents and I had been begging for my parents to stop by Weeki Wachee. We got there and it was closed, but fortunately the parking lot was open and there was a beautiful white fence with mermaid statues. My Mom was taking pictures of me in my tail by a mermaid statue and my Dad waited in the car with the dog. I was nervous at first because there were 2 cars at the far end of the parking lot with people in them. After the photoshoot my Dad said that in one car there was a girl with long brown hair kind of like mine and he said that she pulled out of the parking lot and drove into the median but then looked and saw my Mom taking photos of me in my tail by the statue and she backed up out of the median to get a better look and then she gave a thumbs up to us and drove off. We all like to think it was one of the Weeki Wachee Mermaids, but who knows...? When we first pulled up I had a super amazing surprise! I know you all don't know me that well yet, but if you haven't noticed yet from my signature I am a peacock (peafowl) breeder so I LOVE peacocks! I had been thinking it would be beautiful to have a spring with peacocks and lo and behold Weeki Wachee has very friendly peacocks that greeted us when we parked. They came out and we hand fed them some treats. On the way back home we got to Weeki Wachee on time but there was a huge downpour and they closed the park due to the downpour and the lightning that was on its way. We learned from the lady at the counter that you can't wear any kind of tail in the spring. I guess I thought before that you just couldn't get special permission to wear a tail in the area where the mermaids perform, but instead you can't wear a tail anywhere in the spring even the area open to everyone. That was a bummer but I understand why as I can think of several reasons such as publicity, liability, ruining the magic, etc. Someday I will get to go past the entrance building haha!
This is the first sign you see and then you drive past it (don't turn off on the road to the right of the sign).
Here is the entrance building sign:

I didn't get to do much mermaiding once we got to our destination. I did swim in the hotel pool at night for my Grandparents and my Aunt. I swam in a pool that at its deepest was 5ft. and it had a very rough finish so I was definitely trying to be super careful with my tail. This was the only swimming photo that turned out decent haha.
On our way back home we decided to spend some time in Tarpon Springs. I got a really cool mermaid photo album in one of the stores. We learned that Tarpon Springs is big on diving for sponges so I got photos on one of the sponge boats thanks to an awesome Greek fisherman who let me get photos on his boat.
Evidently Tarpon Springs has the "highest percentage of Greek Americans of any city in the US". I got to get a few photos with the Greek fisherman. He was very nice! I really loved the Greek community and we look forward to visiting Tarpon Springs again for sure!
Sorry about the photo & word spam I am just really happy to do more mermaid stuff!

Great photos Raina and Iona! The photo where you're tail-to-tail in the water is pretty I think it's the fourteenth photo.? Kishiko I love that last one too! You look so mystical ^.^
And Alea it looks like you had a great time I bet the fisherman was a bit shocked at first >.< haha

(Had a lot of fun together with Mermaid Abigail and her boyfriend. But lifting the fluke is so tiring... But next time I WILL get it done! )

Not a photo shoot, but some candids from The Festival of Sail yesterday. Oh, the ships were gorgeous and the weather was perfect, I had the best time and met some wonderful people!
My hubby and I went for a hike and found Grotto Falls and took a few pictures. They aren't perfect but there are some cute ones.
