My 2 Seconds of fame... literally

So I've been taking a break from the forums for a few weeks for a variety of reasons. Decided to check in today and thought I might share something neat I did.
I got to be in a music video. It was a really cool experience. I'm in the final cut for all of 2 seconds. Literally blink and you'll miss me! The musician is actually going to put out a lyrics video that has only footage of the performers/models. So there will be another video where you can see more. For now, it's just fun. And hey, I was paid pretty well for my two seconds! I'm at the 1:57 mark

    Here's the video

I have several behind the scenes photos and videos. You can see them all on my page. Here's a few:

I just want to ask if you comment on any of it, even here, please don't bash the other women. I've had to delete comments on my page because people were trying to give me a compliment by saying I should be in it more, but bashing the other women and that's totally not cool or okay. We all got around the same time, and some people were lucky to get 2 clips. That's just how it goes

It looks like most of the ladies had fun even if having to enhance stereotypes in cliched way
It might only be 2seconds but it is a memorable image

It looks like you had fun. How long did the shoot take? Also, if Train ever makes a video of their "Mermaid" song... I think you belong in that video!

It was a lot of fun. I had a few friends in the video, and a lot of the women are really well known in my city. I made some friends too. The whole thing only took a few hours. We showed up, got hair and makeup done, filled out papers, filmed for 30 minutes or so and that was it. Everyone took turns. We got to go to the release party as well and they showed us all the behind the scenes footage. The gal with the hoops had some shots where she was doing 4 hoops at once and lifting her arms and legs out at the same time. It was great

Yeah, hula hoop tricks are fun... I've been learning some of them lately, (albeit, not very well at all). And your two seconds were probably the funniest of the whole video

How did you get your tail to move like that, out of curiosity? It looks so...something.

I like how each of you is the new American Girl in the video (or at least, that's the impression I got from watching it). So let's see, the American girl is a Playboy Bunny, Drag Queen, Gymnast, Lawyer, Bodybuilder, Rocker, Swimsuit Model, Red Hat Lady, Biker, Cowgirl, Indie Girl, Mermaid, Sexy Nurse, Boxer, Vegas Showgirl, Surfer Betty, Hula Hoop-er, Cheerleader, Dominatrix, Lumberjack?, and... um, photographer? What does that say about the image of women?

it's really funny since we're all Canadian. The idea is that all kinda of personalities are auditioning to be in the video. it was purposely done to be larger than life, and most people were their persona in real life.

Drag Queen= famous drag queen over here
Bod Builder= clearly really a body builder
    Rocker= real rock chick (She's a friend!)
Vegas Showgirl= real showgirl from our Casino
    Sexy Nurse= respite worker
Hula Hooper= circus performer and instuctor
Playboy= local model who's been featured, she's also the fitness instructor and in real life is also a personal trainer
Indie girl= lead singer of a very popular local band
    etc etc

So what does it say about women? That we're all from varied interests and backgrounds in my city.

It IS funny, but Canada is part of The Americas and North America... it doesn't say the New U.S. Girl... though the indie lead singer girl and the swimsuit model were both wearing U.S. Flags. The only Canadian Drag Queen I know is Miss Conception from Toronto, as she's a friend (and former boyfriend) of one of my local drag queens, Shelita Buffet, though Rouge Fatale looks familiar (might just be the style and makeup, though).

It's largely accepted than when people say American= they mean USA. That's what someone from USA calls themselves. You don't say "I'm a United States American" So I feel like that's a little nit picky. Like I've previously said, it's cheaper to make the films in Canada, (we have grants for the arts and film tax credits) and the idea is women are auditioning to be in the video (hence the audition link in the beginning of the video on the computer). So clearly, background or not, people are acting. Similar to when Burton Cummings (Canadian!) did American Woman. I thought people would find it funny that Canadian women are auditioning to be American women. But then again, actors of all background audition to be lots of different nations. The flags, are obviously for fun and to encourage an American audience. If you don't like it and it's not your personal taste, that's fine.

I showed this music video to my boyfriend and my photographer just to give him an idea of what mermaids can do....my bf thought it was amazing (even if it wasn't all about you lol) and my photographer said that it was astounding....good work Raina

I loved this video! Especially because they included all the unconventional ladies, like your mermaid, the body builder and the older lady. It was just perfect!
