    Making Fabric-Tail more Realistic

I don't know if I'll do this, but I was wondering if it was possible to make my fabric tail look more realistic somehow?

Define "realistic". What makes a tail look realistic to you? The texture, extra fins? Color variation?

Kids don't care about realism. All they know is, tail=mermaid. I've swam in my flower print tail and non matching swimsuit, I'm still called mermaid.

If you're a clever clown fish, you can paint over some scales with 3D fabric paint.

    Hi, MerFantasy.

I agree with what the other mermaids asked, what is realistic looking tail for you.

But Everything comes down to Material, Design, and Fit.

If you use materials like Latex or Silicone, They give you a realistic looking mermaid tail, have you ever wondered why all professional mermaids have silicone mermaid tail?

But since you are on fabric tails, you can't use those materials but you still can have the realistic look with the fabric materials like Polyester, spandex, and nylon.

    How?

Use a 3D Fish scale print on your mermaid tail. really, I personally get the feel of a real mermaid tail when I see 3D fish scale prints on a fabric mermaid tail.

But you don't want to have just the 3D fish scale print on your mermaid tail. you want the mermaid tail to fit your body. if it is baggy, what is the point? It makes it look like you are wearing a dress.
