Hi everyone! I just want to introduce myself to all of you, mermen and mermaids.

My name is Alexis, i'm 24 and i'm french, living in Paris. I just heard about Eric Ducharme and his passion for mermaids and suddenly, deep in myself, he awoke a flame which has been burning in my heart since i was little, from the moment i watched "the little mermaid" movie. Eric and i have something else in common, i'm also gay just like him and i hope to find a boyfriend as supportive as his.

Nice meeting all of you and I'll be checking back often since i have a lot of questions to ask.

I'm glad to join the mermaid community, you can count on one more gay merman here LOL.

Unfortunately, my avatar represents my dream tail and the merman there is none other than Mike Van Daal who is the creator of Flip Tails. In this picture, he's swimming with his "Aquamarine" creation. The tail is amazing and i can see myself wearing it since the blue is my favorite color and perfectly matches the sea!

Funny story by the way because i heard about him on a gay porn blog and i saw the video of him swimming underwater and i was honestly stunned by what i saw!!!
And ever since that, i have checking about Eric and merman tails since two days until now and i have decided to join here

Oh yep, you can post quite a few threads here, haha. I didn't post my first thread aside from my introduction for what felt like forever (but wasn't really) because I was really nervous. Everyone here is so crazy welcoming and accepting and nice, I've really learned so much here and I've changed a lot since I joined. So glad Eric's appearance will shed some positive light on the forum too. You've got a lot to learn. :P

i'm glad to know that my story about finding Eric Ducharme on a gay gossip porn blog made you laugh. Here is the quote which was written under his video from TLC :

I couldn't stop myself from laughing after reading that!

But then, i watched the video and Eric awoke an old dream.

OH NO. I mean that My Crazy Obsession showed mermaiding in a very negative light and the community has been kind of worried about it since it aired. The comments on news stories have been negative as well and it's just most of us. I don't have an overly negative opinion about him but you'll kind of figure out about how the community is with him. I don't really know how to explain it easily, sorry. I guess there have just been issues in the past (that have mostly been worked over now though!).

well, since i'm living in France, all i could see is a two minutes video of Eric brieftly explaining his passion on the TLC show "My Crazy obsession".
That's all i saw and in my opinion, it wasn't really bad at all.

How exactly does it show a negative light on the mermaid community? On the contrary, it seems to be making a buzz on the internet, right?

It is making a buzz, but the show made it out to be more WEIRD and CRAZY and FREAKY. It made it seem like mers are freaks and just...I don't know. It just makes it seem really weird and bad. I'm bad at explaining things, I apologize. :s
