Once a Mermaid, always a mermaid!

Ah, Wavy! Your hair is so pretty. The length really suits you.
And Dottie, I really think the color suits you. It's also a super pretty shade<3
My mermaid hair. I'm changing it soon. Going purple!

Oh my gosh Lorelei that is BEAUTIFUL. I wish I were adventurous enough to dye my hair pretty colors!

I once put blue streaks in my hair! But I didn't like how they looked when they faded. Then several years ago I started using pure henna to condition and tint my hair and never looked back. I love henna. I was trying to find a better picture that shows how bright it looks in the sun (and it was brighter at first; it darkens with repeated applications). But I look ginormous in all my old pictures :-/
Thanks Hales!
I've been curious about using Henna, but I've never tried it. How difficult is it to use?

Well, henna is kinda a pain in the butt, actually, but I really love the results so I think it's worth it. It's not like using normal hair dyes, because it's basically just finely ground leaves of the henna plant, which has a really high concentration of the dye molecule (lawsone). The molecule bonds permanently with the keratin in your hair which actually strengthens it, but also means that it never comes out ever!! So it is a commitment. But seriously, it's gorgeous. There's a super awesome website that explains everything in way more detail with a great ebook you can download and read all about how to use henna, and the history of henna and stuff: http://hennaforhair.com/ It's really interesting.
Here's an old picture from when I first started using henna. My hair does not actually look this red. But when the sun hits it, it glows. It's a much brighter red at first, and the henna oxidizes over the next few days and becomes a deeper color. And the more often you use henna the deeper the stain gets, so mine is now a pretty deep auburn whereas my natural hair color was light brown. The color you get with henna depends on your starting hair color, so not everyone's results look exactly the same.
Very pretty!

awe, thanks Emma! I always wanted hair like yours when I was younger, only red. I guess I wanted to look something like Merida from Brave. Before the movie was even an idea, I wanted to be like her. I even got an archery set when I was 15, and had horseback-riding lessons one summer when I was a pre-teen.

I love seeing all the colors I personally love blue streaks but I'm a wuss about bleaching, and using stuff like Manic Panic is a pain in the fins and doesn't get much of a result if you don't bleach first, so I resorted to using clip in extensions from Sally's...I wore them every day when I was in school a couple of years ago, and all my fellow students thought they were real (they are synthetic but I figured out how to curl them without melting them so they blend right in). They are great for mermaid dry events now
Well, I used Manic Panic without bleaching my hair, and it worked and the blue showed up fine in my brown hair, but it just didn't last terribly long (except for the faint green streaks that were there for quite a while). Yeah, I would never let bleach anywhere near my hair :P
Love all the pictures!! <3
Here is my mermaid hair now Sorry but I have no makeup on atm = babyface XD
Everyone has such gorgeous haaaair. <3
Here's mine from a couple of months ago.
I loved it a lot, but it was extremely hard to keep it teal, specially with the pool and the beach.
This is my hair now.
You really do have Ariel hair!
Yeah, extensions are totally the way to go, if you can. My hair is just too thick. I always look like I have a mullet when I try to make my hair look longer with them.

I have Bettie Page hair ^___^ I love the pinup look.
Feel free to friend me on Facebook
I'm trying to grow my hair longer this year! Wish me luck! XD
So far its just a tiny bit past my boobs (when straight), and at the moment I have blue tips. I like to put blue or pink in my hair as they are my favourite colours- and match my tail ;D
also, sorry about the moody picture! XD haha!
March 2012 when I first dyed it:
March 2013 - it's grown quite a bit, it's tailbone length now ^__^
I always just put it in pigtails like this when I get dressed up, it's the only style that really looks good on me that I can do, hahaha
Dottie; omg! That's so cool. ;P I always thought that it'd be really cool if my hair was red, buuuut it's not. I don't think with how tan my skin is, red would look very good though.
