Thread: Hello there, Eh?

    Hello there, Eh?

    Born & Raised in Canada.
    I never really liked the idea of mermaids or even 'The Little Mermaid' when I was a kid.
    However in recent times I've fallen madly in love with the concept.

    My dream is to polar swim in icy frigid waters as a mermaid one day.
    I also want to mer-swim in a creek, river, ocean, and some day sit near a ColdSleep/Brine pool. (A Lake under the water)
    Maybe, just maybe, visit 'Nemo33' one day. Unlikely realities, but a girl can dream, right?

    Ever since I was young though I've enjoyed eating Dulse. And pickled herring... And---I'll spare you the list of various seafoods.

    @Marlin, 'Dulse' (red algae/seaweed). Sea vegetable snack food. Loaded with vitamins, minerals, has a high protein content.

    @AniaR, British Columbia. Really? That's so awesome!

    Lately it's been harder to find for some reason. I went out looking for some yesterday and a few places are only carrying Flakes these days. (Health food/supplement type stores) That or they've completely stopped stocking it because other seaweeds are more favored.
    I called a local grocery store yesterday and asked if they could order some in. I'm waiting on a call back to see if they can do it or not. ^^

    @Moonlight Mermaid

    Whole leaves of Dulse are so tasty! I could never Flake out *snickers*
    I hear Spirulina is very popular but I've never had any... that I'm aware of. Does it come in whole leaf form, or only Flake, Etc?

    @Mermaid Danielle

    Thank you very much!

    Yeah sure. What ever works for you, Flakes or whole leaf, and what ever brand.

    Personally I prefer whole leaf, from Atlantic mariculture.

    I've never even seen whole-leaf dulse! OoO

    Spirulina is only sold as a powder, I believe. It's a blue-green algae that you add into things (I put it in smoothies) and it has amazing nutritional value

    Hi LyreTail! I saw you in the design thread, but your Orca design was so unique, it made you seem like a forum veteran. I didn't realize you were new.
    Welcome welcome!
    Thank you for telling me about a new food to try. I had actually run out of ideas, since I tried sushi 2 years ago.

    Moonlight Mermaid,
    Ooh! ok, Thanks. If I see any around I'll be sure to grab some and try that smoothie trick!

    Mermaid Dottie,
    Thank you for the kind gestures!
    No problem, haha. There's always soup too. ('Gotta love a good thick clam chowder)
