Thread: asked to cover up?

    asked to cover up?

At the store I work at we have a decent selection made from a spandex mix. Like this one. Wouldn't it be adorable with some mermaidy additions?

    Also it's only 20$ !!

Now that's given me ideas about a sheer babydoll top that resembles a jellyfish...

Is it swimmable? Its getting expensive to find swimsuits to match every tail I have...

It's made out of the same mix of fabric most swimsuits are. Spandex/nylon. I don't see why it wouldn't be. May cause some drag but...meh.

I always wear a pretty mermaidy type tank top, which I find at thrift stores and have never wore any kinda of seashell bra (although, I'm in the process of making one now) and even wearing a tank top I still had to cover my shoulders when going into the children's hospital. I've seen some mers add detachable fish netting to their tops so that they have that option if the need to be more covered up.

Ditch the friend and find another. She sounds too controlling even though its not her business.

(in response to Echidna) Sorry to bump an old thread, but I'm not sure who told you Muslim women aren't supposed to go swimming at all, lol *shrug*. About the "burkinis", I'm always against kids being forced to wear (or not wear) something, and obviously with adults too. IMO, we all should let everyone wear what they want to (or don't want to). I'm a Muslim, and a mermaid. Feel free to ask me whatever you want !

it obviously depends on who you ask.
Try 5 different imams at 5 different mosques, and you get 10 different answers regarding not only this, but any issue.

As I mentioned, I lived in Egypt. Pious women were expected to wear a niqab and abaya at all times and ergo didn't swim, but stood on the beach watching their male family members paddle around.
And Egypt is relatively open and modern in comparison in this regard to other countries like Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan.

    congratulations.
I see you show your hair in your avatar.
I hope you're not getting beef with anyone (in case you have a strict family or somesuch).

One could of course discuss in depth the fact that the hijab origin is more a tradition and not really anchored in the Quran (you will be fought over this by most believers though), but that's a topic for a religion forum.
