Thanks! I read somewhere too, that sometimes you won't get a clean seal around your ears even though you have moved your hair away.
I do like the straps though. It seems less hair pulling than my goggles.

I thought it worked like this (there are some pearl and sponge divers in the tropics who build themselves similar masks with wood and pipes), but I wasn't certain.
Anyway, I agree that equalizing this kind of volume inside a mask would take too much air when freediving.
I have a normal diving mask, and when going really deep (10m +), it needs quite a lot of air to not bruise my face already
(and often it leaks down there, so I need to clear the mask and lose even more air, boo).
