    Fluke sculpting help!! ASAP

Hi! I need help! I'm sculpting my fluke and don't know how to sculpt over the foot pockets. Should it just be a mound of clay? I don't know how to do it and no one seems to go into detail on threads or YouTube videos
Here is what I have so far

    I need an easy explanation

Yes, it's basically just flat clay there. You will be later covering it with scales. If you want to sculpt in the detail of the scales now, you can, and save yourself having to lay them there later. It's up to you.

I mean the part that goes over the foot pocket like the part that still doesn't have clay on it. The white part

Usually there is no fluke there. Your foot pockets stick out of the top and you cover that part in the scales

So you don't make a covering for the foot pockets? You just cover them with the scale sheet?

I created mine to cover the footpockets to give extra strength to the tail. It makes it easier to attach the scales later (in my opinion).

I agree with Lorelei .I belled my over so it looks like a little mound. to save clay I built it up like an empty space and stuffed with newspaper and then closed off the back end. This can be helpful and give you more surface area to connect the tail to the fluke which in turn will add strength.

Also, there is no real wrong way to do it. Each tailmaker has their own way of how they make the foot pocket area. So, you can either sculpt it out or not... the choice is yours.
