So It's been a while since the last update, but I finally have something to show you guys! The artist has started working on my armor, and this image will be part of a hip piece/belt:
It's far from finished, but I like it already! It will be fully waterproof, so I hope to be able to do an awesome underwater photoshoot with it once it's all done.
that's so cool! it's like you'll have a badass little octopus guarding you

That looks great, Crystal! As it happens, I recently made a blue-ringed octopus myself for a top. It's a new product coming soon to my Etsy shop...

Sorry to Necro-post...... but this is VERY MUCH my jam. *NodNodNod*
I've started working with thermoplastics myself, and I would like to eventually create an armored mer-sona. I'm very glad to hear that Worbla can be used, and I just need to remember to fix with with a waterproof top coat. I do use a clear-coat already to most of my pieces, only because I want the colour to last and resist UV damage.
If you're looking for alternative ways to get regular Worbla smooth (the brown stuff), I know that layers of wood glue and a wet sand in-between layers with a 400 grit sandpaper makes worbla really, REALLY smooth. Like epic level smooth for metallic finishes. I'll be testing out the Black Worbla on a different project soon enough, but I hear that it's really good on the smoothness scale as well.
