So this is an April thing now?

Or would anyone be up for swimming at Hugh Smith pool during their free swim, sometime this month? I gots a baaad itching to do some swimming, but it's more fun with other mers. They didn't mind my monofin last year, so I doubt they'd mind a tail. Here's their info and schedule: https://naturallyfun.org/pools/hugh-smith-indoor-pool

It'd have to be a weekend for me to make it, or next Friday (3/20)

Can you check and see for sure if they will allow tails?
I'd hate to come all the way there and then be turned away.

If anyone wants to call them, go for it. I have a bit of a phobia thing about calling unknown people. I just asked on their facebook page last yr.

I just called. The head lifeguard is going to call me back, but the guy I spoke to said he'd seen some people "do the mermaid thing" before, so it would probably be okay. I was sure to stress that we have swam in tails before and know how to do it safely. If everything is good to go, I'd be up for March 20th!

I just got off the phone with the head lifeguard and tail swimming is allowed! Now we just need to decide when to go.

It looks like Fridays are family night, so we probably don't want to go then because we will be mobbed by children. Saturday they are open 1-5pm and Sunday from 3-5pm. Admission is $6.00 unless you have a facility card.

Did we want to try for the weekend of the 21st/22nd or is that too soon? For me the sooner the better, I have literally been dreaming about tail swimming with other mers!

I can ask my co-wprker if she can trade me her Friday for my Sunday if we are doing that. Though isn't the kids part of the reason we're mermaids?

I am definitely not a mermaid or fursuiter for kids. I don't mind entertaining them as a mermaid, but I am not at all doing it for them.

Okay, so maybe it's more just for ourselves. Doesn't really matter.

I need to call about the use of tails and monofins at Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center in Plano.

I do love entertaining kids, but for our first meet up I think we should focus on getting to know each other.

Hugh Smith in Arlington is where my mers and I swim every week. We did a photoshoot there once, too. Very mer-friendly and a good deep end. I'm not available much in March, but plenty of time in April. It varies. Seems everyone wants a Saturday in April?

(psst. Mercademy starts in Plano in April on Sunday afternoons... www.mercademy.com Official location is going to be announced this week with price. There will be a class for adults and another for children. There is also a discount if you have your own tail, or the price listed includes a fabric tail if you want. eek! I've been crazy busy! You are all of course welcome to drop in on a class if you want to work on any mermaid skills. It's really geared towards beginners and as a unique fitness trend.)

Says the web link doesn't exist.

Mercademy sounds so fun. I could never afford such a thing. I'll have to learn as I go. I can't really do underwater swimming anyways since I have to keep my glasses on in order to able to see. And Sundays are terrible for me right now until my schedule changes back to 3 days off anyways.

I seriously need to start getting back in the water before summer though.

I will have to check the times again, but Mary thinks 3 is good.
