so Ive been wanting to do a ariel cosplay for a while but i didn't want to do the same thing everyone else does
which is either the Walking tail/Mermaid skirt, or a full fabric tail.
so i chose to do a pants instead.
drew a mock up of how i wanted the costume look using a monster high base
first problem was finding a top. doesn't sound like a hard thing to do right? WRONG! i wanted to use fake seashells to make a clamshell bra and thought they would easy to find at any local costume store but nope. nope. nope!
i didnt want to use real seashells because... too much work.
so thank you to pinterest where i found a cool tutorial on how to make a clamshell bra out of foam.
in the end i think i did pretty good
finally came the pants. using some scaly fabric form my local fabric store, a pair of jeggings i never really wear, and some hot glue I made a pair of scaled pants
the last part of the costume will be the fins at the bottom of the pants legs to form the fluke of Ariel's tail. The waist fins are already in place and just need a little cutting and glueing down. I really didn't sew anything cause i mainly didn't really have the time or patience. i was pretty much screaming and cursing the entire time i was making the pants and i'm afraid if i had tried to sew them i would have ended murdering everyone in my house lol
i'll be updating soon with the finished costume and the final touches
