Arn't shrimp blue until they are boiled?

It might depend on the type of shrimp, but when I catch wild live shrimp, they are a brownish tan color.

Crawfish could also be a good source of inspiration. I remember catching some pretty crawfish in a creek that had black stripes on their legs. Don't worry everything I catch I release. I don't even like eating seafood (although I do eat calamari).

Here is a site I just found called the "Crayfish and Lobster Taxonomy Browser". I think I personally like scaled tails, but I would have to see a more colorful tail like this to know for sure, as I too am not exactly a fan of the coloring. Like I would want to see a tail that looks like this Shasta Crayfish:
