    Apparently there are warm-blooded fish

Just found an article claiming that they have discovered a warm-blooded moonfish:
    http://m.livescience.com/50839-first...ish-found.html

According to that article the fish dwells at roughly about 300m (1,000ft), has a heat-exchange system to fight heat-loss by the gills and uses the elevated body temp for being faster than the prey.

That's really interesting. There are other types of fishes, such as the various species of billfishes, that use countercurrent heat exchange in certain areas of their bodies such as around the brain ("billfish brain heater") to improve function, but it sounds like the opah has a more complete system of countercurrent heat exchange.

Also, the article incorrectly states that most fishes are "exotherms"; the correct term is "ectotherms". (You can have an exothermic reaction but not an exothermic organism).

Well, they say the reason Belugas can live in water between -1 and 10 degrees C is that they have 40% body fat. Maybe bodyfat is what northern mers need more of?

And there's no better way to pack on the pounds than to inhale a box of clownfish doughnuts, LOL
