Yay! I'd say sticking with the i instead of the y in the name probably makes it easier to write/pronounce.

I agree with PetLoverSpy on that

I also thought about that, but I'd like to do a logo too, and so I reckoned that you could do some artsy stuff with the y, like transform it into a mermaid tail. I must admit, the i would have lovely opportunities too, but I think I stick to Mermaid Morgayn. thanks for helping me finding my mer name! I love this community because its just so supportive in every way!

I must say i do like the idea of the y being a mermaid tail for a logo...i am torn now lol....Maybe you could make a logo with both names and see what you like best or even share it with us so we can see how it would look. Good luck :-)

Just a caveat for using a name like Morgaine - or any name with historical significance - as a professional name...you should probably be familiar with where the name comes from, and the stories associated with that name. If you're a fan of Arthurian legend, I say go for it, but be prepared for people 'testing' you on it.

Also, for pro names, go with simple spelling/simple pronunciation, because if it's too, um, fancy, people won't be able to find you because they'll spell it wrong, and you'll be unconsciously avoided because people don't like to pronounce things wrong. I used to use Nimuë la Mer, but no one knows how to pronounce Nimuë, and la Mer would get mashed into 'Lamer'.

And try explaining that that name is based on the one acolyte of Avalon, part of the Ninefold Sisterhood of the Lady of the Lake, that could travel between the worlds of Avalon and the mundane world, (Nimuë du Lac) but modified to 'of the sea'...hell, I'm bored with it already and it was MY name.

I think that your mermaid name will come to you eventually. Don't try to force it.

PS: my name comes from a neon sign on a laundromat.
