Sorry. I was trying to respond to someone else who put that it was fairy tale if you thought Doctor Who was fairy tale. Looks like I only responded to yours...oops!

I poured..... now I pray and wait and cry and pray and beg and plead and make bargains with God and the universe.

But I think it needs another layer I don't think I have enough of the ridges covered I don't want it too thin and fall apart

My husband can't take a decent shot of my face so I had to crop that out but I got all the flesh tone scales on the body so I wanted to try that on with my top

You make the process look so doable! I'm inspired to try my hand at a tail myself, but I have so many projects I'm already currently working on.
    One day, for sure!

Okay, get a grip, get the hang of this flipper,
It's like slipping two feet into one big huge slipper.
I can't believe I can do this and more,
To swim in the sea like I walk on the shore.
Out of my shell not closed up like a clam,
Look out sea, this is me, here I am....

Honestly I wish I would have had pearlie mae make me a tail.
This has been the BIGGEST project of my life. I'm so ready to have all the cluster and mess off my tables (it's taken up my dinning table AND my coffee table). I'm so over tail making. I like my tail but I think I'd love it more without the stress.

I has to drill out my scales because they went too deep. I put waaaay too much vasoline on my fluke it took days of gingerly removing it. I messed up on the side fins and abandoned the idea for lack of time and cost to remake. I don't want you to think it's been easy. It's not. it's the opposite of easy. I can even begin to say how stressful it's been. But I wouldn't have ever listened to anyone. I'm stubborn and want to do stuff myself. Or at least try before letting someone else do it for me.

    Side fin fiasco

    What I started with.....

Used 90% alcohol and blue dawn as a release agent ..... it did not work btw.. with resin

The release didn't snd it's still gummy

This is all really good to hear, actually. Sometimes the forum has a way of making the tails look like a lot of work but also like a fairy tale to put together.

I don't want to tell you to not do it. It's just not easy. Not at all.

It's looking gorgeous! I really do love the whole theme of your tail. Great job on all that hard work.

Once you've finally finished it and got everything cleared away, I'm sure you'll see the tail differently. The stress will be over and the end product sitting in front of you. It'll all be worth it!

The additional resin came in so the weak spots are fixed I'll check it tonight n see how it cured up. I also thought hhmmm I'll make a little extra cast, that will be a surprise. you will have to wait to see that one but it's smaller and was a quick addition incase I had extra resin, and I did! Yay!

Scroll work is hard to de-mold because of all the intricate parts.

So resin pulled easy peasy and didn't break I'm throughly excited about that. I lost a little detail but not a lot. I can handle that.

    There's some bubbles

And I shot a few pictures of the merkids
