As for imperfections you are trying to ignore... Only you will ever know they are there, I don't think anyone else will ever notice. It is looking beautiful!
Thanks a lot Lee, i know right i love threads full of pictures it helps when ur a visual learner like myself also I like to keep track of myself.

This is going to be one of the most amazing tails ever!
Keep on in this way because your tail is just breaking now, I can't even image how much beautiful it will be once finished 😍

The completed fluke is just blow minding!

To sculpt the scales is the most challenging part of a tail in my opinion, it takes really a lot of time and your back feels always terrible after a whole day of sculpting! But I'm sure your scales will be amazing if they are going to look like the one you already posted on your page

The fluke is not complete yet but thanks ❤️

Yes the scales are very tedious and time consuming i finished the biggest size of 7 different scale sizes i got about 65 different scales left to detail. But basically this is how they will look like it.

Dude. I have been following your thread for a while now.
    Can I just say 'wow'.
I cannot wait to see the final fluke. The sculpt is just divine. It is so striking in its 'simplicity'.
I'm excited for you to keep going!!

Yes I made each scale different too even if it's not that visible and that was the part that took the longest to be completed!
I was thinking to make a scale sheet too but I am not a fan of them.

Yes I remember that scale shape it's awesome!
Again this tail is going to be a fantastic piece of art!

IMPRESSIVE your detail is simply amazing and i can say that when it comes to perfection we are pretty much the same. its got to be perfect with NO flaws. well..... to the human eye anyways.

Can someone please get me back to the ocean before I suffocate... I need the water......

Merman Marinus SLOW Extended Tail Project

I posted before, I didn't add them to mine because I wanted everything the be individual scaled. However, smaller scales are a pain to pin down, but if you aren't getting your scales any smaller than an inch or 3/4th an inch, it shouldn't be an issue.

Ight thanks izzy i wont do the small scales on, ill leave them for the individual scaling later down the road i did start sculpting super teeny small scales for the first row of scales those are going to be hard to mold so ill add those and leave the other 7 scale sizes for the latter.

I think it's absolutely gorgeous the way it is now. On most tails (and in real fish) the scales seem to stop at the fluke and it's just smooth spines going down it, and idk the simplicity of that is just really pretty. It allows for intricate details in other areas without making the tail look too busy.
Not sure if that was what you meant by "the top" but that's my two cents!

Thank you for the appreciation Sophy your feed back is great!
No what i meant by the top is as you said where the scales stop and fluke begins like the picture bellow of a finfolk fluke sculpt...

ooooh yes I absolutely love those kinds of tiny details Just having scales on the fluke part itself is gorgeous. But also one of the things that differs a really high quality tail from others are the tiny scales that fade out into the fluke. If you've got the time, yes!! Go for it!

I don't even have gorgeous scales like the ones you've made, the ones I'm making are simple circles but I definitely want to add the tiny "fade out" scales to the fluke. They just give it such a flawless smooth look.

Yeah i know what you mean! Simple circles make beautiful scales just as any detailed scale!

Here are my 2 smallest scale sizes and the second largest.
