Hello there from Louisiana!

Hello there!

Bayou Mermaids told me what I was missing on the forum here so I decided to join. I am the Louisiana Mermaid and am a fairly new member to the community. I have a Mertailor tail currently, with another on order from Merbella. I started mermaiding strictly as a fun hobby, but the local media went kinda nuts when I started showing up in public pools...LOL! So, I wound up starting a Facebook page....and then a website...and now it is a 2nd career for me. If you would have told me that at 36 years old I would have 2 kids and another job as a professional mermaid, I would have laughed you out the water. But I feel so lucky for the opportunity and feel that life landed me right where I needed to be...doing what I love! My "day" job is a graphic designer and part time professor at LSU. Glad to be here!

Oh! And another fun fact....I've been told I look like Daryl Hannah my whole life. Complete strangers will stop me in restaurants, stores, etc to tell me this...as though they are the first person to discover the resemblance. My husband personally thinks it is why people have connected with me so quickly as a mermaid...because of the "Splash" nostalgia I provoke in their minds.
