I just read about this and wanted to share with anyone who is still in school:

The Marine Advanced Technology Education center (MATE) hosts an annual ROV competition. ROVs are Remotely Operated Vehicles, and they are the robots we use to explore the bottom of the ocean. Its a robotics design competition, with middle school, high school, and college competition levels. Some of these entries from the 2012 competition look awesome.

I wish that I'd known about this in college or high school. BTW, community organizations are allowed to submit teams, as long as the members are students (grad school doesn't count). Someone on this board should try and get friends involved. There is a lot of expertise on this board.

2012 competition just wrapped up, so now is the time to talk about a 2013 entry.
