That is very nice. I also like the idea of not completely sealing them down.

The scales look incredible. I've been thinking of a tail design for when I make my own, and thought of something similar, but not quite so detailed and breathtaking. I can't wait to see your finished product.

So many great ideas. You could make several tails... abalone tail, purple tail, peacock tale...

what kind of resin did you use and is it strong enough for a large/full scale sheet? would you recommend the quilt batting or using fiberglass for strength?
also I love your fluke and scales! I can't wait to see the finished tail

I haven't used fiberglass, so I wouldn't know which to recommend, I just had the batting handy. My fluke mold is probably bulletproof! Jazz and I think Julz used fiberglass, so they might be better able to tell you.

    Good luck!

    I thought you used this : http://www.micromark.com/CR-600-Cast...l-oz,7879.html

I'm guessing you've probably used both! I think I'm going to have to order some....it doesn't look like the weather will clear here anytime soon for shell shock, and I need to make some molds!

Which do you recommend/prefer? I'm making a dorsal and large hip fins

Thanks pearlie! I'm so in love with the purple scales by the way!! They're just beautiful!
