Adam Martyn was probably the second pro-tailmaker I had ever heard about (Eric was the first) and incidentally, after I initially stumbled upon his videos for making tails, it was his SCAMMING that I learned about before most of anything else (I'd never found his own website, nothing..). Almost EVERYTHING that came up when I searched him was relating to him being a scumbag and scamming people out of loads of money. Maybe my google-fu is skewed so I saw his scams before anything else about him? But I mean, there's SO MUCH out there about how terrible he is, how can any person, mer or otherwise, who spends even 5 minutes googling NOT come across that he stole tens of thousands of dollars from others? It really irks me that he's trying to scam people again because he thinks he's laid low enough for everyone to forget, that's seriously f*cked up.

I had a little think about this. Let me see. What is my aim?

My aim is to make sure Adam Martyn never scams a person again, and that his name is attached to what exactly he's done. Like it would be with ANY OTHER CRIMINAL.

Would we not do the same thing if Stevi suddenly came back pretending like nothing happened? You can't burn the community and then expect to be a part of it.

Adam didn't lead to a wave of tail makers. No one uses his approaches. What he did lead to, was a world of scammers. People who saw him get away with it, and started doing it too. Fake websites to take money and tail makers who realized they could just disappear when business went bad.

And as for the mertailor thing, I have to LOL since he clearly doesn't know the history.

and yes, my efforts have ruined his life. LOL cuz you know, he didn't do that all on his own!

Here's the rant I just posted in reply to his PM on the splash group. Just posting here in case things gets taken down for one reason or another

So Adam sent me this message, but given the context in the community I feel it's important to discuss it openly.

First off, Robert Short I do apologize your thread melted into this, but I hope you can appreciate the seriousness of the situation and why we want people to be informed. (hence sharing the news clip and proof etc).

We are a community, someone can't just come in and steal thousands and thousands of dollars from people dreaming of being a mermaid, and then waltz back in and have things be okay. It's not okay, and we should never turn a blind eye to a crime like that, or that sort of extorting.

Adam wants to know my goal. It's simple. I want everyone to know what he did for so many years, so they don't fall for his lines, and give him a bunch of money, and never get a tail.

Adam blames others talking about him, for the damage he's experienced, instead of accepting that scamming people is what caused all his problems.

By trying to shift the attention to "oh look at her, she's so sad, taking attention away from Robert." Adam hopes people will overlook his past and pay no attention to the girl behind the curtain! BUt he's got no idea who I am, my history with tail makers when they steal from people or scam. I eat guys like him for lunch, and it's published about in my book So don't be fooled by his distraction tactics meant to divert drama so he does not have to be accountable.

Adam Martyn did not launch a wave of a tail makers. He launched a wave of scammers. Tail Makers like Fishbutts who steal money and don't deliver tails and realize they could just go off the radar and never pay up. Fake tail makers who make websites using other people's photos in order to steal money from unsuspecting mers who just want to reach their dream. I don't know a single tail maker who uses any of Adam's approaches, because quite honestly, they don't work for the community. Not for the type of tails people want and how they want to use them and have the tails function.

As I run my own successful mermaid business, I anticipate problems in the future. That's why I have business insurance. That's why I have clauses in place with all my business partners. That's why I have an emergency line of credit and credit card. That's what a responsible person does. A responsible person doesn't see that business is going poorly, or their partner leaves them, and then decides to take a bunch of money from people full knowing they will not be delivering a product.

Mertailor and I have our issues, which I find funny he brought up mertailor because he apparently doesnt know! Lol. But even Eric, as much as we butt heads, delivers his product. I've never heard of eric EVER taking someone's money and just not giving them a tail and pretending they don't exist and acting normal.

At the end of the day, it's important our community is kept up to date on this. Because stealing large sums of money from people is a crime. Ignoring contracts. Hiding away in another country so you don't have to be accountable. Don't fall for the "life was hard, business was hard" lines. Don't fall for the tricks of "hey look at that person over there instead" lines. Just recognize what is happening here, and if this man private messages you to try and manipulate your view on him, go through all those links of EVIDENCE and ask him to provide counter. I'm not talking let him just say something, but let him prove it, and then make your own judgments.

Thank you admins for allowing this situation to come to light. So members can better protect themselves, and fully know a situation.
