Thread: PearlieMae's Silicone Tail Journey

  1. #601
How did you paint it and get it that shiny! Is it that shiny in person or is it the camera flash?
Its the prettiest tail I have ever seen

I didn't paint it. Every single scale is cast individually, mixed with glitter or pearl pigment... if you go back through my thread you'll see exactly how I did it.

Aren't you all tired of looking at this thing yet? I can't wait to finish it to start on another one!

I think I'm going to test my glue-down-the-scales technique on a purse with some extra scales tonight.

There's still a lot of detail work going to happen, but I am so happy my ideas are working well!

    Thanks, everyone!

Is that silicone bonded to the lexan sheeting or are you just using it to support that side of the fluke?

No, it's just laying on the monofin cutout for now. I'm testing how to encase it in the rubber flukes once I get the other side cast.
