    I am The MerArtist

    Heyhey MerNetwork!

I am The MerArtist Dracarysis and I design tails! If you've seen me before, I've made a few little posts around the forums but I thought it'd be best to PROPERLY introduce myself!!

    A little about me:
I'm an art student out of Florida and I became interested in the mermaid world when two of my friends from high school began posting their mermaid journeys on Facebook. I've always had a passion for art and working with my hands, so mermaiding was a natural interest to go into! Plus, it helps to know my way around a sewing machine! I can't wait to get started on my own mermaid journey!

To begin I'll starts with the art-form that comes most naturally to me! Drawing and painting! I already have paint jobs available to buy at 25$ each and I am always open to commissions!

If you are interested about a tail design, please email me at:
bvaughan@c.ringling.edu and we can discuss paypal information and I can give you a high resolution, unwatermarked front and back tail design!

Soon I hope to make custom mermaid tops and hair clips for my new merfriends as well!

Thank you SO much for welcoming me into really wonderful community of lovely Mers! Please continue to look for my posts as I make my way through my own mermaid journey! I can't wait to make friends!

Hope to hear from y'all soon!

I have friends who graduated from Ringling! Have you only worked digitally? If you were able to offer custom paint jobs for fabric tails or something, I think you'd get a lot more interest. Either way, those designs are lovely and I wish you luck!

Ringling is a really wonderful school! I'm enjoying my time there so much! Digital is a safe zone for me but I am thinking about making cloth tails myself!

Is this type of paint job/ design what you mean? Would this type of stuff do better with the community instead of silicone or latex designs?

Oh no, you're designs are fab for any sort of tail! I just meant if you offered to hand paint tails for people, it might bring in more interest and cash.

Oh, oh! I thought about that a little bit! It certainly would be something I'm capable of (and would enjoy) doing! Though I worry about the cost of shipping! D:

Mmm, shipping is such a pain. D; A lot of fabric tails have removable monofins, so if someone just sent you a tail skin, shipping wouldn't be that bad. XD They'd be responsible for the cost either way~

Well I'd be open for that! I've never painted on fabric like that, though! How should I get started?

First, you should look around and read through the threads to see what others are offering as far as design, what other tailmaking advice you might want to consider - logistics and safety of a swimming tail need to be taken into account - ...and the 'hard sell' approach is something you might want to rethink.

I know how difficult it is to make a living as an artist, and I understand your enthusiasm. I hope you don't think I'm being rude.
