Question I am seeking guidance in making a mermaid tail that is both comfortable and realistic

    Hello everyone

While making my debut mermaid tail; I am looking for advice from experienced costume creators and tail designers. I hve been interested in creating a swimming fin that combines visual appeal with functionality; but I m struggling to find the right mix of comfort; longevity; and attractiveness.

What materials do you recommend for a tail that will be primarily used in water? I also desire something that looks genuine; in addition to being light and flexible. Even though I have observed silicone tails; I am concerned about their heaviness and upkeep. Are there any alternatives that are not heavy and still appear great?

How do you go about designing a swim fin? From my understanding; a fin must be well designed for proper propulsion; but finding a balance between aesthetic appeal and functionality is a challenge. We would greatly appreciate any suggestions or recommendations for creating a fin that is both visually appealing and functional.

I hve heard that being comfortable relies on finding the right size. What can be done to ensure the tail fits well around the legs and hips? Do you have any advice on how to avoid discomfort or irritation while swimming for long periods?

My plan is to swim frequently using my tail; so I need it to be durable for multiple uses. How can we properly care for the tail, particularly the material and stitching, to ensure its longevity?

I would really be thankful for any guidance or suggestions you could offer.

I am excited to gain knowledge from your experiences and join the mermaid community

These materials are great for the outer layer. They are lightweight and can give a sleek, genuine appearance.
