I use a mix of Red Raj henna and hibiscus powder, both from hennasooq.com. They have excellent, pure quality products. Very fresh.

I'm loving all of these hair pics! I've been trying to come up with ideas for what I want to do with my hair, but I've rarely done anything with it color-wise (I had bleached the front about a year and a half ago, but have never really done anything else). I've been really wanting some sort of unnatural colors in it, just to shake things up a bit and better match my mersona. I'm planning on getting my hair cut short again soon, and might consider getting some color put in then.

I really wanna go with a sort of royal-blue color, but I don't know how long it would last, especially where I'd be swimming in a chlorinated pool. What's the normal "lifespan" of blue dye?

I find that all the blue dyes I've used fade pretty fast, even when not in pool water (and I've tried most of the blue dyes out there at least once). Blue's a tricky colour to get to stick, some say even harder than red! I may be dying it blue again soon, maybe I'll try out a different kind of blue.

Ideally I'd use indigo or woad to dye the little tuft of hair I have left, as both are supposedly pretty good for you (like henna). I love blue but apparently synthetic blue colour is one of the worst dyestuffs out there to have on skin constantly (and I have stupidly sensitive skin).

Guess I'll join the band wagon I did the stupid mistake of cutting mine when I was 11 and had it cut shorter than a bob hair cut >.< took me a few years to grown to the length it is now :P Ignore the kitty ears :P

I'm using Sparkz dye (at hot topic) and it has been amazing! close to a month that I've had it in and it hasn't needed touching up

I've had numerous colors of the rainbow for hair. I personally miss having the hunter green or the neon red.

But these days it's much more low key due to phlebotomy. (don't mind all the snow flakes. It's me complaining about cold weather and rockabilly clothes not being overly warm.lol)

Should be/is normally black. Odd lighting makes it vary sooo much. Will be re-dying black soonish.

My hair's getting longer, yay! It's about to the point where it's the longest it's ever been. Never cutting it again<3 haha.
I like to keep it in a braid most days, as it has the tendency to get really dry and tangled when I leave it out. I'm trying to rejuvenate it with coconut & argon oils, and it's working, slowly.

I bought this stuff from biosilk called silk therapy (you can get it at target) and it is AMAZING. My hair used to be super dry but I started putting that oil in it daily and now my hair always feels like salon hair! I HIGHLY suggest it to anyone needing to rejuvenate their hair. I might post a list of hair products I use here later because it works so well. I get asked on a daily basis how my hair is so healthy lol.

P.s. SO jealous of your hair length.. my hair is getting there slowly. But I started taking biotin so that should also help

Oh, lovely! I will have to try it! I don't know whether there's much difference in what Target sells in the US vs Australia, but even if they don't have it here, I'm sure I could find it online. Thanks for the tip! And please do post your products, I'm always so grateful for product reviews and I'm sure a lot of people would find it useful

Believe me, it took a long time! I cut my hair off to above shoulder length about 4 years ago. It's only now getting back to the length it was, and that's with almost no trims at all (I have more split ends than I'd care to admit).

I do love a good braid! This was literally 15 seconds of work, haha. I've gotten good at it! And you don't need to be as perfect with a messy braid

I'm considering PURPLE HAIR what do you all think? I won't bleach first, and it would be a dark purple, and not my whole head.... Hm.

Forgot to post my list of products! So for a while my hair was ridiculously dry.. the last time I had to get my split ends trimmed they had to cut off 2 inches, so I wasn't a very happy mermaid lol. Now I do everything I can to keep my hair healthy and these products work AMAZINGLY for me. Some might be more expensive than others but so worth it!
-Shampoo and conditioner: It's a 10 miracle moisture (I let the conditioner sit in my hair for a few minutes so the moisture can really soak into the ends of my hair)
-Argan oil and Shea Butter by OGX (I comb it though my hair right after I get out of the shower)
-Biosilk silk therapy (I comb through my hair after styling)
-Biotin vitamins to help strengthen my hair

Some great hair tips here, and such beautiful hair! I feel compelled to mention....if you have tried everything for a while, and are still experiencing stunted growth (as opposed to breakage)...I would advise you to do a full blood panel. I did one recently for other reasons, and found out that I am hypothyroid, which one effect of that, is decreased nail and hair growth, dry skin, etc. (also caused by thyroid disfunction: hormonal imbalance, irritability, irregular periods/spotting between periods, anxiety, weight gain, and a whole lot of other things.) The best website to learn from is www.stopthethyroidmadness.com. Thyroid disease has skyrocketed in recent years, and as many as 50% of people actually HAVE the disorder without knowing it.
One of the bizarre things that turned up in my bloodwork was that I have a defective gene that makes it impossible for my body to process any B vitamins. Kind of a big deal in the hair department! So I would REALLY encourage someone who has had hair loss, thinning (as I did), and stunted hair growth (brittleness, etc) to have a full blood panel done. It's not cheap, in the $250 range, and then find a good holistic doctor to help you with a treatment plan, detox plan, and supplement plan.

I don't have great merhair, so I'm not gonna post it here until I have a good mer-hair day LOL
Would love to meet local freedivers and mer-folk!
