I just arrived back home in Cali last night after a long 14 hour drive. Definitely feels amazing to be back. I've been playing with my baby nephew and basking in Christmas decor. I found my stocking I've had since I recieved my very first tail when I was about 12 years old (9 years ago)
It's made out of the same material as my first tail and since I don't have it anymore, it's a really nice reminder of the memories
My first silicone tail is being shipped today Also!!! So cool to see how far I've come. 2015 will be my 10th year offically mermaiding!

Sadly since I'm at my Cali home, it is going to be twice as difficult (my parents love to barge in and get in my business of what I'm doing ><). Went swimming at the public pool today. I didn't know that there was a class of third graders having a field trip! The kids surrounded me literally lifted me out of the water and paraded me around to show the parents and teachers. There was also a girl who was so worried that my tail was coming down and people could see my "mermaid underwear" (aka my bathing suit bottoms) that she kept on hoisting on the waistband of my tail to pull it up. It was hilarious.
There was also a girl who decided I'm Ariel's daughter, even though her hair is black and she has a red tail and I'm blonde with a purple tail.

Yea but they frown on bubble baths in the pool. Plus its chlorine water. Last time I had a real bath was when a cabin the family was renting had a hot-tub. Filled that up, pored in some bubble bath soap, and had fun. And the bubble jets from the hot-tub+about 3x the amount of soap I should have used...there were more bubbles than water...and it was awesome!Flyer blah. The pool though right?

Pearl in my mind I picture you doing crowed surfing to a bunch of little kids or being carried like a queen everywhere...either way it seems awesome.
It was option b. When I called myself Princess Pearl, I didn't expect to be treated like royalty! Very cool until someone started pulling my fin, then I had to swim away.

My boyfriend is really going to hate me now lol
Bit of sad news first: My black orchid crowntail betta, Paarthurnax, got really sick last week and passed away.It was a fungal infection, it spread way too fast and by the time I knew what was wrong and got the medicine he needed, it was too late. I spent like two hours curled up on the floor in my boyfriend's office (where Paarty had been quarantined) just sobbing. I was really upset, and ended up spending the night just beating myself up over not being able to help him sooner.
My boyfriend saw how upset I was about the whole thing, and after he picked me up from my best friends' house (they'd kidnapped me to cheer me up after they heard about what happened), he told me that I should meet up with him at his work once I got off my shift on Saturday. The next day, I went over to meet up with him, and he handed me his card and told me to pick out a new betta at the PetSmart next door.
And so I have a new buddy: Odahviing! (Because, in honor of Paarthurnax, his predecessor was also named after a Skyrim dragon; which, fittingly, translates into "Winged Snow Hunter.")
I've had him for maybe 48 hours now and I'm already obsessed with him-- I'd never seen a betta as pearlescent as he is, his colors change from white to pink to blue in the light, he's just so pretty. <3 I'm really hoping that I'll be able to give Odahviing the absolute best, and not let what happened to Paarthurnax happen to him, too (and if it does, somehow, then at least I know what signs to look for and have the medicine I need on-hand to treat him right away).
So I basically have the best boyfriend in the world, and one of the most beautiful bettas I've ever seen in my life. ;w;
Oh my goodness, he is beautiful! I've always thought that fighting fish were the best inspiration for tails<3
I am seriously considering designing a merman character based off of him, because a betta tail would look AMAZING with his colors! Plus he has such an awesome personality. <3
Sometimes, a little extra personal maintenance goes a long way to making you feel awesome, especially after the longest, busiest work week you've had in a long time. I feel great! ^_^
