Now the only question is: orange or blue? I love pink for a change, I will choose a different color for my first fins.
Haha just scrolling through and was like "oh hey that's me!" Lol

Googling "mermaid monofins" I came across the patent for the MerFins...
Look at what else is there? The Orca fin!!

There's been talk of one for a while. I'm anxious to see it come out.

That would be a fantastic monofin option for fabric and latex tails. I love my current Mahina fin, but something about the shape is rather limiting for future tail designs I have in mind. Its core shape is narrow and boxy save for the little fin tips that flip outward, and I like wider flukes. The Orca fin is exactly what I want, so I really hope they go ahead with production. I can't imagine why they wouldn't, considering the success of their original design

Yes me too. The current shape is hard to design another fluke around it.

Between an Oceanika and a Wave, which gives most speed?

I'm almost positive it would be the Oceanika (Mahina as I think they're now called). The Wave is a lot thinner than the Merfin and tbh not much better than no fin at all - it just adds shape to a tail skin.

    Really? Wouldn't have thought.
The Mahina looks so soft. I have a Wave, and I get some good speed out of it.

I wouldn't necessarily say soft. Its definitely flexible. Its also really thick and dense.

Flexible is a better word yes. I thought a stiffer blade was better for propulsion, but I may be wrong.

I didn't find the Wave to be all that stiff, though. Maybe it's just because the straps keep coming off, but I find it difficult to get very far in it (I'll have to start wearing socks). Glad yours works for you, though!

Try searching for the Merfin on youtube, maybe there're some videos that'll show you swim power?

If you cut the tips that curves out, do you lose much power, or is it just esthetic?

Aesthetic. Main part of power is the huge space in between the foot pockets and the fluke tips. Sorry I don't know what its called!

Good to know! I'm not very fond of how it curves out, otherwise it's pretty.

They have been promising an Orca fin for sometime, hopefully they start selling it this year, as it was supposed to be released last year. But they were too busy with the Merfins to start the other ones.

I'd really be excited for an orca fin. I presume it'll be in men's sizes?

Probably. I don't really know at this stage. I know just from reading her fb page and through emails.

Fifi Tigg has a few that have been cut down. I'm not sure if she cut them or if someone else did, but the shape of them after they are cut down is nice

I cut them myself and no power is lost. I love these monofins as long as you have the neoprene socks!
