Well, out tops could use some work...

For the tops, decorating regular bikinis is definitely the right call; they’re comfy, secure, and give you a solid base to build on. You could try using fabric shells, sequins, or iridescent scale-pattern fabric to make them shimmer under the water. Rhinestones or pearls glued along the straps can look beautiful, especially if you use waterproof or flexible fabric glue. If you want something that feels a bit more “realistic mermaid,” adding layers of sheer fabric or tulle that flow in the water gives a really magical effect when you’re filming. You can also play with color gradients like turquoise fading into purple or coral pink — to match your tails. A touch of gold or silver trim around the edges makes everything pop on camera.
