Ugh, we have a Wasp in my work room and a bunch more outside the door... and my husband doesn't get off work until 5 today >_< looks like I'm not getting any sculpting done today.
That's a possibilityThanks WaterDragon! Not sure why I didn't think of that before. Chalk it up to a stressful day at work; it does nothing good for the right half of my brain.
There are some things I'd want to add and fix on it anyway before listing it.
I've made the occasional burlesque costume for other performers, and that was different. I was designing for someone else, so I would just keep that in mind when I make changes to this one; it's a new design![]()
The review was posted here on MN, and it's actually horrifying.
When you're a "professional" tailmaker and have to resort to getting your mom to reply to a customer's concerns to defend your mess of a product, you dun fucked up, son.
I'm starting to realize a lot of the good we've seen from him actually wasn't him but was his ex boyfriend. The lobster tail, extravagant paint jobs ( like christomer) unique sculpts...
I seem to remember MVD praising Matt's sculpting abilities and reaching out to do a collaboration with him. He talked about it on the FlipTails website awhile back.
matt was the coolest when it came to sculpting and painting

Did he credit him at all? Like if my boyfriend was super good at something I'd be all like "yesh. Dis is my boyfriend. He's amazingful at (whatever the thing is)" I'm not saying that my boyfriend isn't super good at stuff... Cuz he is, but y'all know what I mean.

Wow that is quite a review! You know he sure has been posting positive sounding things on facebook but it sounds like it is just a façade to lure people in thinking that he will be pleasant to deal with and will work more closely with you to create your dream.
You know something valuable that an artist, or really any person should learn, is how to take critique. Eric isn't the best at making tails, and neither are all the other tail makers. Art is a continuous process of creating something good and then using that experience to create something better and then it keeps going. You should never really feel like you have arrived and you are the best and then give up and not wish to improve. If I were Eric I would take these bad reviews and instead of denying the cruddy work I would work to improve on the things people are complaining about.
Of course I have never met Eric nor do I really know him and I have not bought from him. I don't hate him but I think he needs to sit down and re-evaluate what his goal for his business is and what the basis is for his customer service. On his facebook he likes putting motivational images up so maybe he needs a motivational poster up in his studio that enthusiastically states his *NEW* customer service guidelines. Even if he has a bunch of people working for him to do paint jobs and sculpting, etc he can do like what they do on the show Face Off for the finalists where each finalist is in charge of some of the others who lost that season and they oversee their work and give them help and tips when needed or even take over a bit if the person they are watching is having trouble. So even if he has others doing some things, that still isn't an excuse for bad work.
Okay I will get off of my soap box. My complaint is that our cute dog keeps trying to kill my new bird - which happens to be the chick of an endangered bird species! I wish our dog was good around birds but she isn't.Don't worry I keep the bird somewhere safe, but it cries for me soo much that I have to take it out and that is when the dog tries to squeeze in and grab the bird. She is pushing up against me as I type and the bird is hiding in my hair.

Ahh crud the dog almost killed my bird!! What the heck that is it I am about to research how to train a dog not to hurt a pet bird because this is obviously a big issue. I thought I was about to see my cute little peachick be killed in front of my eyes but luckily I was able to quickly grab it before the dog got a good hold on it. The bird flew down from my lap and the dog was eagerly waiting for something like that to happen so she quickly made a grab for the peachick and it cried out and I was so worried it got hurt. I don't think it was hurt at all but I think the dog did get a bit of fluffy chick feathers in her mouth. I love our dog but now it is really hard to love her when she wants to kill a bird that I have been waiting years to get.![]()
